Tina Fey recently won an Emmy for her uncanny resemblance and venomous impersonation of Republican Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin. In accepting her award, Fey was her typical, obloquious self saying, Mrs. Palin is an inspiration to working mothers everywhere because she bailed on her job right before Fourth of July weekend. You are living my dream. Thank you, Mrs. Palin!
2008 marked a departure from the memorable, more cordial years of Chevy Chase as a clumsy Gerald Ford or Dana Carveys hilarious H.W. Bush: wouldnt be prudent. Fey was downright mean.

I enjoy my flatscreen because of FOX and Netflix, Turner movie channel and Food Network.
I've pretty much been TV and cable-free since fresh-out-of-high-school nearly 35 years ago, though I watched enough of other people's TVs to know I wasn't missing anything. Thank God I married a man who is as indifferent to TV as I am. For the past 20 years or so, we've had just TV with air reception, watched 24, Fox News Sunday for awhile, and local news in the mornings with coffee for 20 minutes or so. That was pretty much the extent of our TV experience; the ads were either the funniest/best things, or they were the most shocking and revealing things, about network TV.
Digital changed our exposure -- our "box" won't function and we're both too lazy to try to troubleshoot it enough to work right. So now our "TV" is just a venue for videos and DVDs.
But Eddie Murphy is one of the funniest guys ever born, especially in SNL's Golden Years. His "Gumby" ("I'm Gumby, dammit!") puts me in fits every time. If he ever did an honest spoof of Obama ... yipes, it would be hilarious. I'd love to hear of a conservative comedy troupe on cable ... I'd get the DVDs when they came out! And would glory in seeing all the advertisers who sponsored the cable channel and comedy troupe prosper and blossom!
I don’t know how to post a pic here, but here’s a link to Fey and Palin backstage at SNL:

A different word? Which? (rhymes with?)
Or perhaps it's best to punt (rhymes with) on this one?
Maybe I'm just too gung ho (sounds like) to pass judgement?
I wonder if anyone can calculate the amount of free advertising SNL (not to mention the rest of the “entertainment” media) has given to the Demo party and left wing causes over the decades. It is probably an astounding amount. It’s a wonder Republicans are able to win any offices.
You must be from the old school of civility if you don't get it. Or you're younger and accept it as normal. Civility is now corny. If it ain't mean it ain't funny. Witness the "roast" of Larry the Cable Guy by people he said were his friends. That was my real introduction into the new "funny". Being an old-schooler myself, I thought they were insulting, mean and crass, except for Foxworthy. But people laughed at it.
The times they've done gone and changed on me.
Compare a Dean Martin roast to the drivel they try today. Not even close. Good Point.
Tine Fey mean? Like that’s news.
When Fey did the SNL news, she would often make snide remarks about people in her news stories.
Sarah Palin made that girl more famous than she would have been otherwise. This is how Tina shows her gratitude. I could say more, but my thoughts are unprintable.
She is like Sarah (Not)-Fey is U.G.L.Y you aint got no alibi you’s ugly.
Cruel heart, mean mouth, no manners? Yep that's Tina Fey all right. She was what we called back in the day "badly brought up."
*And, when they crossed the podium in the intro, Tina Fey pretty much slumped across the stage and genuinely looked embarrassed to look SP in the eye. I liked SP’s appearance on SNL - she had grace and humor.
Fey was right. And so are you!
That's funny, since you were in agreement with the decision for Palin appear on SNL.
It's called pushing your team to victory.
Although ansel1 will browbeat me mercilessly... IMO Palin was too graceful towards SNL and shouldn't have gone there.
