It must have been a grim scene on Tuesday night inside of Ohios state prison at Lucasville. Romell Broom lay strapped to a gurney with a team of medical technicians and correction officials hovering about him. But rather than receiving emergency medical treatment, Romell was waiting to die.
Back in 1984, Broom had been convicted of abducting a fourteen-year-old child as she walked home from a football game in Cleveland, raping her and killing her. No credible opposition to the evidence presented against him was forthcoming, and the court determined that Romell should no longer be sharing above ground real estate with the rest of us. Following the usual, nearly endless appeal cycle, Broom found himself ready to meet his maker.
But something went far off the beam on this occasion. After two hours of probing, poking, and prodding, the technicians were unable to find a suitable vein where they could administer the lethal injection. ..

Insanity.
A bullet to the head is cheaper, faster, and morally appropriate.
Kill him again, he ain’t dead yet. This POS raped and murdered a 14 year old girl, and the lawyers want him kept alive.
Hard to botch an execution when you’re using a firing squad.
He figured out how to kill the girl. Why not just use that method on him. Unbelievable.

Every year you have people die because their generator was not vented properly. Since carbon-monoxide binds with hemoglobin 14 times faster than oxygen, why not hook a mask up to him with 50/50 O2 and CO (to satisfy the libtards) and let his hemoglobin decide his fate? After about 20 seconds, he is unaware. No Fuss, No Muss and no need for finding a vein.

And for the record, I’m one of those rare birds on the right with serious reservations about the death penalty- but dammit, if you are going to do it, it should not be like putting down the family dog.
Shoot the bastard, and be done with it.
It’s good enough for the military, and more than good enough for vermin like this guy.
That is what i have been saying for years.
Use it sparingly (violent and repeat offenders) and then just do it. No fanfare, no circus atmosphere. If it is an iron clad, irrefutable case, just do it. Behind the shed, done.
But I am weird in the fact that I think the family dog is of higher value than some of the humans on this earth.
Not in my book- my dogs, the very old one and the very young one-- love us to death, are loyal no matter what befalls us in life, and would fight to the death to protect us-- they are better than some people I've had the misfortune to know.
Nothing a little duct tape would not have solved.
Do what’s done for an angioplasty: place an incision on the inside of his right thigh, find the carotid artery, & insert the needle there.
This guy used his veins up shooting drugs. Long term heroin addicts have always been creative in finding new veins. Some inject into the neck. Others, males, use a vein in their genital. Physicians have done what used to be referred to as a “cut down” that opened the skin so that the vein was reached more easily.
The bottom line is that there are ways to reach a vein large enough to insert the needle and complete the execution. In fact this is all about capital punisment. Those who oppose it will come up with objections to the method, no matter what that may be.
Putting aside cases like this one, there was the claim that lethal injection was cruel and unusual punishment. That is abolutely ridiculous. Twice I have had teeth extracted after receiving I.V. injections. The anethesiest told me to count backward from 10 to 1. I never got to eight and was amazed to be told when I woke up that the procedure was over.
When lethal injection is used the first chemical renders the patient (or the condemned) unconcious. Then the chemical that will stop the heart is injected. The people who oppose any form of execution actually have claimed that there MIGHT be pain involved that the individual being executed can not express because they are unconcious.
The first time I heard that I cursed. Then I considered the possibility that this ludicrous argument was intended to infuriate people who believe that monsters who commit heinous crimes should be put to death.
Just consider who these people are. Danny Glover, Ed Asner and Mike Farrell to name a few. They are radical leftists. I view them as being the absolute scum of the earth. Throghout history their degenerate ideology has resulted in millions of innocent people being slaughtered.
I am thinking about Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot. In every case radical lefftists embrace people like them and oppose America. They also ignore those deaths as though they never occured. I think that they are traitors and a disgrace to this nation. I think treason carries the death penalty. I would love to be hearing about what method to be used to get rid of these despicable creatures.
Somehow when I compare what his victim went through in the last moments of her young life I have no problem with how long it takes them to put him to death. Actions have consequences. Sometimes it’s a long time between the action and the consequence, but his actions were such that it doesn’t matter, to me anyway, how long or how arduous the task of carrying out the death penalty is for him. I would not go out of my way to make it hard on him, but if that’s the way it turns out, then it’s just one of the consequences of his actions.
I couldn’t believe my ears when I heard this man’s attorney saying how devastating the ordeal has been on the condemned. That it would cause lasting psychological damage, etc. My heart and prayers are with a teen age girl who was abducted, raped and murdered.
Simple. Put the drug in a capsule, then drop the capsule down the barrel of a loaded .45. Fire it remotely in case of explosion.
The perpetrator, one "Black Jack" Ketchum , was captured, tried and sentenced to death by hanging in Clayton, NM.
The sentence was carried out, however something went wrong...
The hanging was delayed several times until lawmen heard rumors that the old gang was going to attempt to free Tom. Therefore, a decision was finally made and the hanging was scheduled on April 26, 1901 at 8:00 a.m. The hanging was a big attraction with stores closing and saloons remaining open, doing a brisk business. People came from all over the area to see the big event, where the local lawmen were selling tickets to view the hanging, as well as little dolls of Tom hanging on a stick.
However, the town of Clayton had no experience in hanging a man and there was a debate concerning the length of rope. The night before the scheduled hanging, the rope was tested by attaching a 200-pound sandbag to the noose and dropping it through the trap. Finally, at 1:13 p.m. Thomas "Black Jack" Ketchum was taken to the scaffold. While they were adjusting the hood, Ketchum stated, "Hurry up boys, get this over with." Finally, Sheriff Garcia took two blows with a hatchet, cutting the rope and Tom fell through the trap.
Unfortunately, the inexperienced hangmen had forgotten about the sandbag they had used to test the rope and the weight of it caused the rope to be as rigid as wire. When Black Jack fell through the drop, he was immediately decapitated. The black hood pinned to his shirt was the only thing that kept his head from rolling away. A few minutes later the doctor pronounced him dead, then sewed his head to his torso prior to the burial at the Clayton's Boothill at 2:30 P.M. In the 1930's his body was moved to the new cemetery in Clayton, where it remains today.
Don't see why the same method wouldn't work on Romell Broom...
It sounds like he dehydrated himself, so as to lower blood volume and pressure. They should have just trebled the dosage, and hit him in the neck.
