Israel is watching very closely. This would be a great time to smack Iran.

Civilized men owe no honor to barbarians other than to forcibly civilize them at the end of the lash. Failing that, they are welcome to the end of the sword.

Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.

Well, the elections of ahmadinejad and 0bama are of equal legitmacy and they both hate America.
We have Tea Parties and Townhalls; the Iranian's are marching (being gunned down) in the street.
If I were in New York, tell me that thought didn't make you shudder?

It's simpler than the
Times puts oh so delicately. Vladimir Putin is in the driver's seat now. 0bama needs him to save face over the missile deployment debacle and that will be at Iran's expense if it happens at all. Ahmadinejad needs to avoid making that easy to do, which will require conciliation, not defiance. It isn't much in character.
So, best case scenario from Ahmadinejad's point of view is a little discreet butt-kissing toward Putin, who makes a public show of disapproval of Iran's activities and quietly increases their very lucrative commercial relationship. 0bama gets his photo-op, declares victory and lauds himself for being more effective than Bush, and everybody goes home happy. Especially the Iranians.
Worst case scenario? That's also the worst case scenario. Because Iran gets the bomb.

For a couple of days, obama might not be the most anti-American person on US soil.
