The ACORN vote in the House is stunning news. Just 48 hours after Republican Leader John Boehner introduced the "Defund ACORN Act," the bill -- which most Republicans thought Democrats would do anything to block -- passed by a resounding 345-75 vote. It would never have made it to a vote had not the Democratic leadership decided to allow it, and the winning total included 172 Democrats. Yes, 172 House Democrats voted to totally cut off funding for an organization that has worked for years on behalf of Democrats nationwide.
Couple that with the 83-7 Senate vote to cut off housing funds to ACORN -- a number that included 50 Democrats -- and the votes signal the complete collapse of Democratic support for ACORN. The job is not anywhere near finished -- the Senate still has to consider a total-cutoff bill, introduced just today by Sen. Mike Johanns, and a conference committee has to come up with a final bill that President Obama signs. At any step of the way, Democrats might decide to resume defending ACORN or give it federal support by other means. But as of today there are on-the-record votes of large majorities of House and Senate Democrats in favor of cutting off funds for ACORN.
Although Republicans had long fought against ACORN, it is not an exaggeration to say that none of this would have happened now without the BigGovernment undercover videos. Democrats who in the past had reflexively supported ACORN ran for cover after seeing ACORN employees encouraging tax evasion and prostitution. The BigGovernment videos mark an important moment in the development of alternative media sources, and official Washington responded before most of the establishment press did. This is truly an extraordinary series of events.

What are the odds that if it passes Glorious Leader will veto it...
Aren’t they sort of in a Catch-22 in a way? The non profits have to be non-partisan, a claim which would be that much harder to make if the Democrats defend them with votes, etc.

And ACORN will emerge as?
OAK?
HAZELNUT?
VANILLA BEAN?
Just some ideas. LOL!
It's not over until ACORN is 100% eliminated/removed from anything having to do with elections and voting - period!
They aren’t totally defeated yet. Not until the forensic accounting is done and the criminal sentences have been ruled.
It could be dropped in Conference. Plus this bill includes the total takeover of the student loan thing.
Plus ACORN has deals with many county and local governments and housing agencies and with other charities and organizations. All over America.
About time - I’ve had my tagline since the first of the year at least.
Keeping it for now - don’t trust our ‘leaders’ to stay the course once the heat is off.
Only explanation is dem’s know a lot worse info is buried at acorn about the dems. They are killing it so the info doesn’t see the time of day.
This is a historic event up there with the bush natl guard letter imho.
Pleeze pass the Hot ACORN nuts before they disappear and become another endangered species. HR-ACORN was passed by the majority of Communist Progressive Demo-Rats by a historical margin.
: )
Not enough collective intellectual heat in that crowd to warm a thimble full of water a single degree...

ACORN morons...your bus is leaving...
Don't you just wish "The People" would exercise that power more often? The RATS understand POWER. It's what they are all about!
You're right about that. No way were the Dems going to give up that easily without having some sort of backup plan. Hopefully this episode has focused enough attention on "community organizing" that ACORN's offspring won't slip under the public radar so easily.
Another well desrved everyone should read this BTTT.
Everyone of these leftist crooks should be thoroughly investigated by the FBI for how much tax $$$ they got via ACORN.
