Dear MoveOn member,
Health and insurance interests are spending nearly $5 million per week to oppose health care reform,1 fighting to keep a broken system because it benefits their bottom line.
But what we've got right nowskyrocketing premiums, denial of treatment, canceling coverage when you get sickis a disaster for regular people.
It's time to call Big Insurance outbecause if they win, we lose. And next week, we're going to do it right in their own back yards.
We're organizing "Big Insurance: Sick of It" rallies at local insurance company offices across the country on September 22nd. Thousands of us rallying together will send a strong message to them, Congress, and the media that we are sick of Big Insurance and want real health care reform now.
Next Tuesday, there's a rally in Detroit. Can you make it?
Here's the link to RSVP: http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/event.html?event_id=98594&id=17246-10389527-9m2gg.x&t=3 The public health insurance option is the number one target of Big Insuranceand a major reason why conservatives in Congress are holding up Obama's plan for real reform. With these events, we'll remind Congress that when Big Insurance is in charge, we're the ones who lose. We need a strong public health insurance optiona health care plan that won't put profits over real people's lives.
At the rally, speakers will share personal stories about how they've been harmed by the health insurance industry. And we'll display many of the most compelling "Can't Afford to Wait" photos of MoveOn members showing why they or a loved one can't wait for real reform to highlight the fact that real people's lives are at stake in the debate over reform.
Rallies like these are a lot of funand with stories from real people taking center stage, they're sure to be a moving reminder about what's important in our fight for health care reform. They're also a great way to make a big impact. With hundreds happening at the same time, we can send a strong message that we're sick and tired of Big Insurance's stranglehold on our health.
The rally in Detroit is part of a national day of action to shine the spotlight on the insurance industry. And with Congress moving quickly toward voting on health care, we need to make sure they hear our message right away.

Want to support our work? We're entirely funded by our 5 million membersno corporate contributions, no big checks from CEOs. And our tiny staff ensures that small contributions go a long way. Chip in here
Counter protest, anyone? The last time there was a MoveOn protest at our representative's office, we, the counter protesters, out numbered them about 2-1.
The ‘new’ ACORN?
Oh goodie - I always enjoy the pics from lefty demonstrations.
20 people turn up and ALL THE SO CALLED MEDIA TURN UP
hundreds of thousands turn up around the country and the so called media say no story
Hope we taught them to pick up the trash lol
Guaranteed NOT to be racist...
If “Big Insurance” is making so much profit, why not invest in them? I’m sure their 401K could use the help.
Exactly...this will get huge coverage even if they have a small turnout.
So... How much are they paying the “protesters”?
“There’s a rally in Detroit”????
Now, that’s the garden spot of the world.
So 32 people will show up with 75 news crews and it will be all over the news. Do these people work? They never do anything on the weekend.
Little Girl Rape Lovers, Arise!
Maybe not! Don't you have to have a job in order to have a 401K?
So replace the insurance companies with one entity bigger than the totality of them and as incompetent, heartless and inefficient as the very worst of them. Yeah, that's the ticket.
Better to leave it alone. If their numbers are increased by counter protesters, it will look like their turnout is more than it would otherwise be. Also, with that bunch of thugs, there is sure to be blood. Pelosi said so.
Detroit huh? Watch the home invasions spike that day.

Oh that's always fun.
Lost job (cause lazy, drunk or high), lost insurance, now can't pay for house or car, it's not fair, wants bailout from Obama instead of actually getting a new job with insurance and taking care of themselves.
Wouldn’t it be great for counter-protesters to hold up signs that said,
“OVER A MILLION STRONG PROTEST AT THE CAPITOL AND THE NEWS IS HERE TO COVER THIS PATHETIC TURNOUT”
No, the counter protesters stand on the other side of the street with home made signs. It’s easy to tell the MoveOn crowd because they’re the ones with the navy blue and white pre-printed signs that say “Thank You!” And they have the smaller crowd.
