Two of every three practicing physicians oppose the medical overhaul plan under consideration in Washington, and hundreds of thousands would think about shutting down their practices or retiring early if it were adopted, a new IBD/TIPP Poll has found.
The poll contradicts the claims of not only the White House, but also doctors' own lobby the powerful American Medical Association both of which suggest the medical profession is behind the proposed overhaul.
It also calls into question whether an overhaul is even doable; 72% of the doctors polled disagree with the administration's claim that the government can cover 47 million more people with better-quality care at lower cost.
The IBD/TIPP Poll was conducted by mail the past two weeks, with 1,376 practicing physicians chosen randomly throughout the country taking part. Responses are still coming in, and doctors' positions on related topics including the impact of an overhaul on senior care, medical school applications and drug development will be covered later in this series.

I wonder if my old pediatrician would quit...
Hussein will just call for more rationing until it all evens out.
If it’s a problem, he’ll just raise taxes some more, and he’ll subsidize the doctors for their estimated income losses. Then the doctors can see as few patients as possible and get paid a lot of money for it. The same way a lot of the farmers I know get paid not to grow stuff.
***hell just force people to be doctors.***
Come on...
how hard can it be to be a doctor...
when even a community organizer can be POTUS?.
sarc/off
We’ll have 1/2 the medical coverage with 1/4 of the doctors.
I can envision unionized doctors with a health care Czar as their union representative.
“No sweat, a lot of former ACORN workers are looking for new careers.”
Making license plates.
it’s okay if they quit. You can reduce supply, increase demand, and still lower prices in Hopey-Changy Land!!!!! /s/
And yet THIS isn’t what’s known as “voodoo economics.”
>>> General practitioners are disappearing, and the ones who are still carrying the water have had it with insurance, long hours, and govt bureaucracy. <<<<
That is *exactly* what a physician said to me last year, after I asked him how he chose his specialty.
He was very annoyed that he had to do it but said it was a big relief.
>>>> Well have 1/2 the medical coverage with 1/4 of the doctors. <<<<<
And after Amnesty is passed in 2010, we’ll get to stand in line with our newly-lagalized Mexican and Mesoamerican peasants and their darling little rugs rats while waiting to see a third-world intern for ER services.

Stupid Allah (may piss be upon him) Moon Gawd worshipers!
