EVERETT, Wash. - Bikini baristas in Everett may find themselves under greater scrutiny. The city is considering a change to its lewd conduct ordinance.
Though it doesn't mention bikini baristas specifically, it does add language that seems to target them.
One such area adds the following to the definition of a public place:
"... businesses contained in structures which can serve customers who remain in their vehicles, by means of a drive up window."
Bikini stand owners and workers fear the updated ordinance could make them targets.
"Law enforcement should worry about law enforcement and not worry about trying to police up an espresso stand," said Bill Wheeler, who owns several coffee stands.
Others think bikini stands need to be policed.
Amanda Staveley works for T-N-A Espresso. That stands for "Tasteful and Appropriate".
"You don't want to bring your child outside of your car and have them look and see a half naked girl standing at a coffee stand," said Staveley.
The revised ordinance will be introduced Wednesday at Everett's city council meeting
They can't. They have been turned into the instruments of "we're doing something about it" by politicians seeking approval from disapproving menopausal women.

Wonder who you have to know to get the job of inspector.
If there’s no pictorial evidence how can we make a critical analysis of the piece?
Nice flair...
I am going to apply for a job in their Human resources department....
That model is well equipped!
I meant the car in the background. :)
Since women like Amanda Staveley are just plain jealous and envious of the ‘assets’ on these bikini serving baristas, they believe no one should be able to observe and enjoy.
I live a very sheltered life. LOL...
A neighboring city has a bikini clad gal who runs the hot dog cart downtown. She kills the completion.
Real.
hubba hubba
What’s “Tasteful and Appropriate” for one is obscene for another. A community has a right to set decency standards for itself.
Issues like the bikini baristas have been around for a long, long time. Some businesses push community standards to the limit in order to gain an edge on their competition. This forces people to turn to government to reign in the extreme cases.
One would hope that people understand we live in a shared society. Even if someone has the legal right to do something, it doesn’t mean they should do it. We all have an obligation to maintain the civil society.
That said, I think the bikini baristas should be given freedom to operate within reasonable standards of decency determined by the communities where they operate. However, that’s entirely up to those communities.
Can’t tell.
Store bought.
