LUCASVILLE, Ohio A lawyer for a condemned inmate in the state death chamber says execution team members have taken a break after struggling to access the inmate's veins.
Attorney Tim Sweeney says the team is having trouble inserting IVs into the arms of 53-year-old Romell Broom. Broom is sentenced to die for raping and killing 14-year-old Tryna Middleton in Cleveland in 1984.
It was the second delay of the Tuesday execution, originally scheduled for 10 a.m.
Broom entered the death chamber shortly before 2 p.m. after losing a last-minute appeal request.
In 2005, an execution was delayed for more than an hour after the team failed to properly attach an IV. That led to changes in Ohio's execution process.

Killing a little girl I am all for using his jugular.
As long as they started at his rectum...
We need ole Sparky back.
I was thinking they could insert a PICC line. We do it all the time when we have a difficult stick. It’s done at the bedside.

I suppose they don’t have gallows anymore? Gallows, the chair, firing squad...when in doubt there should be a plan B.
Problem solved.
So do a cut down. Shave his head and find one on his skull. Use his jugular. Instead they’ll probably give him medical treatment for his “condition”.
Is this the guy who went on a non-stop eating binge? Got so fat that they can’t find a vein?
Maybe they need a respiratory tech, they are pretty good at it. How about a venous cut down? Sounds like they are just looking for an excuse.
Headline you will never see: ‘Hanging postponed due to rope problems’.
LOL......exactly MY thoughts......I will volunteer.....if I can’t find a vein we can just use drill into the leg and get access....I haven’t used it on a live person yet and I am dying to!
How about you take a knife to the huge vein in his throat...that’ll do it.
sounds like the same guy they sent to draw blood from my kid in the hospital
Just keep cutting until you find one. Sometimes it takes a few hours.
Intermuscular. Get on with it!
Or, “Hangman could not locate neck”.
Nice little bit of inlay on that thing!
