Media Malpractice: Tom Brokaw's World Implodes
American Spectator ^ | 15 sept 09 | Jeffrey Lord

With the passing of Walter Cronkite, Mr. Brokaw is considered perhaps the new "dean" of journalism. As such the former NBC News anchor is periodically summoned forth to assess the current world, an occasion that presented itself recently on the venerable NBC Sunday newser Meet the Press.

Sitting cheek by jowl with New York Times columnist Tom Friedman, Brokaw joined him to riff on the Internet and the state of journalism today, an opportunity occasioned by the resignation of Van Jones, he of the Truther brigades (and much more) and the Obama White House. Mr. Jones' resignation was prompted by a virtual parade of videos and documents in which Jones, in his own words and deeds, presented himself as an overripe Marxist with a tendency to the nutty paranoia of the extreme left. This material was discovered by Fox commentator Glenn Beck, doubtless with an assist from citizens who had scanned the Internet, easily unearthing Jones' ravings. One in particular was Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit.

The mainstream media exists only to investigate conservatives. If you are a conservative, they will put you inder a microscope. If you are a liberal, you have a free pass, until the new media gets a whiff of scandal, then it is GAME ON. Guys like Brokaw and Friedman HATE that they can no longer totally control the information. Too effing bad.

Tom Brokaw is a marble mouthed nothing burger, the perfect poster child for a dissipated worthless media.

NBC is not a news organization. They are infomercial producers for the Socialist Democrats. They should hire Ron Poppiel for their anchor.

Yup. He made a ton of money on that one. Not that they didn’t deserve it but he clearly rode that horse to the bank.

Hmmm--no wonder Brokaw (and Matthews) get "a tingle up their leg" about Obama. "Birds of a feather....."

I recently had an opportunity to talk to two of my sisters. All three of my sisters are hard-core libs. Once again they decided the best way to talk current politics with me was to talk about “that stupid Bush” and his gaffes. I then regaled my sisters with a slew of Obama gaffes. They sat there stunned and said they had never heard them before. Gee, I wonder why? I’d wager a great percentage of libs or Dems are that way simply because they’re ignorant. With large thanks to Big Media.

BTTT. I read the whole thing and highly recommend that others do as well. You can almost imagine yourself as a lawyer in the court fair play making point after inarguable point about the bias the old media has institutionalized and, more important, the damage it has done to this country.

Long live the new media! It may well have saved the Republic.

Indeed. But well worth the read.

For those, unfortunately in the majority, who don't have time to read the full article I highly recommend giving it a good 2-3 minute browse for a very nice review of some important history of media bias that goes back decades.

I love the characterization of Brokaw that they do on the "Bob & Tom Show".

The guy that does the impersonation sounds like he's about 2/3 drunk and slurs his words just like Brokaw.

Thank you for posting this.

Brokaw's words are pure delusion when you consider the fact that Rush, just a few weeks (if that many) before the election played a montage of Brokaw and Charlie Rose going back and forth with, "Ya know, we really don't know much about obama." "No, not at all. He's a blank book." On and on and on and on they went.

"and a lot of people will repeat back to me and take it as face value something that they read on the Internet. And my line to them is you have to vet information. "
