It was silly, but it is one of the most famous lines ever.

I’m so sorry to hear about your best friend. My mother-in-law also had pancreatic cancer. She was only 54. My husband was her only child. Her only symptoms were back pain and some stomach/intestinal discomfort. After her diagnosis, we had 9 months with her, but with all the different chemotherapy treatments she tried (6), it largely was 9 months of pain and anguish. The pain she endured, oh my Lord, you just cannot imagine. She, too, was in the same situation with the coma. They told us the pain of it is just too much for a person to bear, given the location of the pancreas, it is difficult to get the pain medicine to actually ‘hit’ in that area. It was so completely horrible. We just watched her slip away a little more each day.... devastating.

My prayers tonight with be with his family.

I didn’t know that little fact that they were not good friends. Interesting and especially since Ms. Grey also was in the movie, “Wolverines”, with him.

He was great in so many movies and The Outsiders is one of my all-time fave flicks without a doubt. Copolla nailed it in every way, especially in regard to casting and adaptation from book. Swayze played the role of of the paternal Darrel Curtis flawlessly and I was always taken aback by his “screen presence” in that film since like the ladies, the camera loved that chiseled face. But alas, “leaf subsides to leaf. So Eden sank to grief, So dawn goes down to day...Nothing gold can stay.” Rest in peace.

Oops, I meant “Red Dawn” instead of Wolverines.

I didn't see a whole lot of his movies, but really enjoyed him in Keeping Mum with Rowan Atkinson. He seemed like a good guy.

Oh, interesting point you make - this says they eventually got along better on DD. I find the story behind the filming interesting - people fainting from the heat, etc. Terrible conditions, yet you would never know it. OTOH, it’s also obvious that they filmed some scenes in the fall (the trees are changing in the opening scene when they are driving to the lodge - when do you take your summer vaca, September? But of course I would not have noticed that the first few times I saw it, lol).

There’s a few of them I get mixed up if I’m not playing close attention to the tube.

Sucks...did not know his politics but Red Dawn and Point Break and Roadhouse were fun flicks....Point Break was chick directed...same one who did Hurt Locker

he fought like all hell, i respect that..

may his family find solace in God and the fine example he showed

his fate awaits us all...some of us are just closer to the exit sign

Thanks for the link to the Wiki article. Chock full of information and trivia. I see the movie was released on my birthday. The film was a favorite of mine, partly because I worked one summer at a Jewish country club near Chicago when I was 18 and the music in the film was the music of my generation. In fact, I learned to dance to Bruce Chanel’s “Hey Baby”. I certainly could identify with much of the film.

How cool! It is really like a blast from the past to see how the well-heeled might have spent their summers. I’m not sure what they do now, lol. And I’m quite confident I’ve never had an Ivy League waiter, but then again I’m in the Midwest...
