EXETER Firearms manufacturer Sig Sauer, in their part to help stimulate the economy, has announced a "Cash for Your Klunker Handgun" program.
Purchase a new SIG SAUER P220, P226, P229, 1911, SIG556 pistol, or SIG556 rifle from your dealer's inventory from Sept. 7th through Nov. 30th, and Sig Sauer will give you $200 for your old pistol or revolver. To receive your $200 payment, simply send your old firearm with a copy of your form 4473 and proof of purchase of your new Sig Sauer firearm (no later than Friday, Dec. 4) to: SIG SAUER, Inc., Attn: CK-1, 18 Industrial Dr., Exeter, NH 03833.
To qualify as a klunker, your handgun can be from any manufacturer, but must be operational and free from cracks in the frame or other key components. The klunker must be a semi-automatic pistol 9mm or larger, or a revolver of .38-caliber or larger.
All transactions are subject to federal, state and local firearms regulations. For more on this program, visit www.sigsauer.com.
Sig Sauer is the largest member of a worldwide business group of firearms manufacturers that includes J.P. Sauer & Sohn and Blaser GmbH in Germany and Swiss Arms AG in Switzerland.
OK. You know the rulz.....
GUN PORN PICS!
Okay gun owners, I've bought an assload of weapons in the last 20 years. Just exactly how many of you have received or gotten a copy of your form 4473 with your purchase?
SIG 226 - hmmm.. SIGs used to have a rust problem. Is that gone?
I know they are tack drivers in being super accurate.
And another damn thing. If Sig thinks I’m gonna go to the trouble of getting a 4473 and then sending a copy of it with my personal information to them, they can pound sand. ESPECIALLY if they’re located in NEW HAMPSHIRE!
How do you send a gun back to SIG? I cannot take a gun into the post office???
WTF?!?
Don't forget to check local and state rules for shipping firearms.
At least as far as I can remember....
But the last time I purchased a handgun was back in 2000.
Why?
Uhhh.. no thanks.
Personally, I've always hoped that the shops I bought them from shitcanned the forms and threw them away after I bought the weapons.
Isn’t it a violation of Federal law for an individual to send a firearm through the mail?
No, but your gun dealer can ship it for you.
Buy your Sig, have the dealer put a copy of the 4473 for the new Sig with your old gun and ship them to Sig.
Receive your $200 check.
It doesn't sound that difficult to me.
I think you can send them through Fedex....(or UPS)...I forget which one.
I guess you could do that. Are you comfortable sending your personal information up to New Hampshire?
Am I more worried about Sig having my info or the government (who already has it)? Umm... It's not Sig I'm worried about.
Gun owners would be able to get a federal subsidy to purchase suitable gun safes for their weapons kept at home (and there's always room for one more eh) as well as smaller safes suitable for carriage of pistols and ammunition in the passenger compartments of their automobiles.
This way there'd be no need to "lock" the guns in fascist states like Maryland, and you'd not be pulling the trigger by accident pulling a pistol from under your seat ~ always a nasty bite.
In addition, having noticed that almost 90% of firearms accidents in this country involve "older weapons", we'd have a subsidized UPGRADE program. Take your old firearms to the nearest dealer for a new or suitable refurbished weapon of equal or greater firepower, along with your government voucher, and could leave the dealer with something better than you brought in.
Gun accidents would plummet under this program AND, best of all, gun thefts from automobiles would also decline. I'm sure that many of you, as would I, would be sorely distressed to return to our cars after a busy evening at the handball courts only to find that a window was broken out and our pistols stolen!
I bought a gun last Nov. and I was told that the gun shop is required by law to hold those docs indefinitely and when the store closes, all of those docs go right to the BATF.
And the government says it isn't keeping records of who buys what gun and where. Yeah right...
Rest assured that when National Martial Law is declared, they will be coming for your guns.
They know what you got and they won't take no for an answer.
Bump
Well, yes, the government has your information. You forget, however, that ‘government’ can coordinate their ass and a flashlight unless it is fed to them. Likewise, they don’t have your latest information. The NCIS checks don’t stipulate what you bought, only that you’re buying something. In my state with a GFL like I have, I don’t even have to pass throught the NCIS check. That said, if you send your very latest information to Sig (in NEW HAMPSHIRE, I might add) what are the chances at some point a ‘well-meaning’ Democrat there just ‘collects’ all that information and passes it on....paranoid? You’re damn skippy! No thanks, SIG!
That’s only for the purchases and acquistions on the 4473s, which they can’t on a wholesale basis confiscate (yet). Private purchases, etc. are not involved. My advice? Keep your 4473-connected items separate from your ‘obtained elsewheres’.
