Vanity: If Mitt Romney "purchased" the Tea Party Movement
Sept 13, 2009 | yongin

Posted on 09/13/2009 6:35:38 AM PDT by yongin

Yesterday's 9-12 Project and the local Tea Party rallies were roaring successes. The Tea Parties are much more effective at voicing opposition to Obama's policies than the hapless GOP leadership in Congress. With the success of the Tea Parties, it will be only a matter of time before GOP politicians and especially potential 2012 candidates to attempt to make the Tea Parties as their own. Mitt Romney is a man who might try to "buy" the Tea Party movement. With his vast wealth, Romney could open his wallet and fund Tea Party rallies across the country until 2012. Under such a scenerio, the Tea Party organizers wouldn't have to worry about raising money for rallies.

Big Questions: If Romney gave generous donations to the Tea Party movement, does this entitle him to conservative support?

The best way to kill a movement is to take away its autonomy.

Romney is part of the problem, I’m not sure he is capable of sincere change, or that he could ever regain enough trust.

I don't think the "Tea Partys" are about Mitt Romney, or even Repbublicans; they are about like-minded conservatism and Americans who cherish and believe in the Constitution, the flag and America.

It's about Americans who are trying to stop their country from sliding into socialism/communism (P.M. O'Roarke said, "Socialism is just Communism by the drink!").

We have the democrat party, the republican party, the libertarian party, etc...this is just the font color="red">TEA Party.. Telling Every American about the imminent demise of our country if we don't do something, and do it fast.

Don't let the "Tea Party" become a liberal-like cult, it is as clean and pure as the people of America.

We have sat around - trying to be nice - and allowed the government to grow out of bounds, allowed the invasion of our country with illegals who are draining the system and crippling our freedom with the ridiculous "political correctness" crap, and now we see a muslim-based government being systematically put into place...it's time it all STOPPED.

We've got a lot of Americans away from their recliners and TV's and speaking out...we shouldn't loose the momentum. Remember, the left keeps their "organizers" on the street...so we have seen what they've got. We're the "regiment" waiting just over the hill, they've just topped it coming after us, and "surprise"...we're fighting back.

We're going to be called everything in the book, from Nazi, to Tea Bagger, to their all-tim favorite, "racist".

The time for waiting for Congress to do the right thing, is over. This Congress is the pits and will actually make an effort to go AGAINST the people who put them in office. They are untrustworthy, they lie like obama, and they should be thrown out of office in 2010, if not sooner.

Democrats out! RINOs Out! We're individually and collectively tired of all their liberal/socialist/commie crap.

I mean this in the nicest possible way, Are you out of your MIND?!?!

LOL! Oh thank-you for my morning chuckle, was thinking the same thing. I do believe the GOP party royalty will try to co-opt the tea party movement at all costs, while at the same time referring to the followers as "wingnuts".

No. At least as far as I’m concerned- it is not his religion. Unless someone is trying to change me, I don’t care about their religion. It’s their business and I’m odd enough to believe it’s none of my business- it’s personal.

And I don’t “hate” Romney. He’s ok- but he has no defining principles.

He’s a charming fellow and obviously a very smart one. He’s just too northeast Republican for me (I grew up in Mass- my mother knew him) and I simply don’t trust him.

I agree. the Tea Party exists in large part to people’s digust for both parties. I true conservative Republican is in the best position to get the support of the Tea Party but that’s no guaranty.

If Myth Romney did that, I'd find a different movement.

Why would we try to do the dem “rent-a-crowd thing? Dems own that ... and we don’t need it. Tea party people are true grassroots and it needs to stay that way...

Wow, talk about taking the low road.

I couldn't care less what mitt romney (R)ino Massachusetts chooses to believe, it doesn't make his lack of conservative principles one iota more or less acceptable to me.

So he's a Mormon, B.F.D. So is one of conservatism's most powerful beacons of light and truth, Glenn Beck.

You might want to retire that old canard before the feathers fall off.

Who is Mitt Romney??

We don’t need any more silver spoon types in office. We need REAL people who understand the REAL lives, and concerns of REAL average Americans.

I think I saw such a person on a video not too long ago..she was wearing waders which had fish guts dripping off.

Someone called her “Sarah Barracuda”

Hi ladyjane.

Moving on from calling Willard (invokes a rat) as a “wolf”,
is this a good idea?

Why did not Romney run for Senator from Massachusetts?

Is Romney really the COWARD?
Romney fled to La Jolla (about as far as he could
go)after installing RomneyCARE.

Let’s get Mitt to run for Senator and increase his gravitas.

I don’t hate Romney, jane. And I am certainly not afraid of him. We plan to re-defeat Mitt in New Hampshire 2012!

It was great fun the 1st time and the 2nd time will be a hoot.

It is interesting that Romney can generate a whole thread even when he is quiet and doing nothing.
Obviously, the worry about Romney runs deep.

broncobilly,

He’s been quiet because whenever he opens his mouth, a smelly gas erupts.

Romney could beat Obama in 2012. I don’t think Palin could do it no matter how mad everyone is at the Dems. She would be looked at as inexperienced as Obama was (when he was elected), and Obama will have 4 more years of ‘experience’ than Palin. I think we are making a mistake if we ‘overlook’ Mitt Romney since he is a little more ‘liberal’ than we might like, and jump on the Palin bandwagan.
