US cities may have to be bulldozed in order to survive
The Telegraph ^ | September 12 | Tom Leonard

Dozens of US cities may have entire neighbourhoods bulldozed as part of drastic "shrink to survive" proposals being considered by the Obama administration to tackle economic decline...

Having outlined his strategy to Barack Obama during the election campaign, Mr Kildee has now been approached by the US government and a group of charities who want him to apply what he has learnt to the rest of the country.

Mr Kildee said he will concentrate on 50 cities, identified in a recent study by the Brookings Institution, an influential Washington think-tank, as potentially needing to shrink substantially to cope with their declining fortunes.

Most are former industrial cities in the "rust belt" of America's Mid-West and North East. They include Detroit, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Memphis.

First, this is straight out of the Comm. Manifesto, where da gubment is going to tell people where to live and have a "balance" between cities and country.

Second, note that they aren't going to replace it (or, more appropriately, allow it to naturally be replaced by) with suburbs, but to "return it to nature."

“Kansas City has already lost over 100,000 in the inner city in the past ten years. The change is refreshing.”

Refreshing for who? The outlying communities and towns that now have skyrocketing crime and welfare recipients due to the trash Kansas City has thrown out on the highway?

Knocking down perfectly fine homes - killing cars that run - bankrupting a country for reasons unknown... Liberals would be funny if they weren't destroying the country ...

“US cities may have to be bulldozed in order to survive”

Translation: We’re moving big city liberal trash, gang bangers and fat welfare mommas to exurbia to destroy them next.

They must be floating this idea among elite circles. Perhaps they're counting on a huge "die-off" from H1N1.

I had to put down a book called Manahatta that recreates the island of Manhattan as it appeared 400 years ago when Henry Hudson sailed into what is now New York harbor. The last half of the book imagines the future of New York and if there aren't HUGE presently developed sections of Long Island, New Jersey, etc. depicted as fields and forests.

The authors' dreams require hundreds of thousands (maybe millions) of people to simply "go awaw." These people give me the creeps.

One issue missed here concerns deannexation. I recall seeing another story some time ago saying that Flint was considering deannexing certain neighborhoods. That’s fine — if there are large swaths of land with vacant buildings, and the owners are not paying property tax, then I can see bulldozing the land, especially if the properties have gone to tax sale and nobody buys them.

However if a parcel of land is deannexed, then the county rather than the city controls it.

Properties delinquent on property tax, especially vacant buildings, are at high risk of arson.

If the owner objects to his building being bulldozed, that is another story.

Here it is. Bulldoze the run down inner city, then relocate the people to the suburbs to change the demographic and make them more democrat.

The Big One is going to deliver us from the sewer of San Francisco. The fires in LA are trivial to a quake induced burn.

The only trash thrown out was that by emigrants on their way south. The only impetus to the emigration trend has been overpopulation. No demolition programs exist. No depopulation efforts ever occurred. In fact, the city is trying to keep all their murderers and rapists, drug dealers, gang bangers, islamicists, homeless, unemployed, substance abusers, baby-moms and what have you for fear of losing even more population.

But when you foul your nest you move on and that's what happened. It got so foul that they just moved on and on and on into the next county. Even low-lifes deserve better than to live on murderer's row.

Perhaps you didn’t have the opportunity personally, but many other Boomers did. And they didn’t use it.

The proper response, for example, to hippies spitting on troops is an immediate beatdown. Period. I’ve done it to leftover hippies protesting the Iraq War. Have you?

The Big One is going to deliver us from the sewer of San Francisco.

Not this year. There is an unseasonable rain going on right now.

As a native Californian who has been disappointed with the direction the state has gone in my lifetime, I still don't wish death on the immies. I just wish they would go back to the blue states where they came from and leave us alone.
