James O'Keefe's foray into filmmaking may cost him a few years in the slammer.
O'Keefe and fellow conservative activist/budding investigative journalist Hannah Giles were the ones who dressed up like a pimp and a prostitute, respectively (or not), and went to the offices of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) in D.C. and Baltimore looking for advice on how to buy a house.
The resulting video caused quite a commotion and resulted in the firing of four ACORN employees, as well as other repercussions for those who support the organization.
In Maryland, it's against the law to tape a person without their prior permission. It's also illegal to "willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio," Baltimore City State Attorney Patricia Jessamy said in a statement released late Friday.
She added: "The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to five years."
The Baltimore City State Attorney's Office is investigating the matter.
Exactly, she really wants to say that a private citizen cannot video tape criminal activity that they witness? She really wants to go there? So if I see a bunch of thugs robbing a store I can’t catch video of them doing it? This woman is a moonbat!
Perhaps Glen Beck should start checking into the background of the prosecutor...
Basically, she is going to claim this is ‘wiretapping’ and is illegal, even to expose criminals, without a court order.
And I would argue that this was a criminal activity in a public place where there was absolutely no expectation of privacy. I can see protecting people from a wiretap or video of where such an expectation exists, but this is an organization that takes public money and whose doors are open to the public. The general rule should be that if you expect to be able to change your clothes without being recorded then you have an expectation of privacy. Otherwise...all bets are off.
I hope you are right. You make a lot of sense.
If we can find one MSM investigation in Baltimore undercover, you may have something. Even PETA undercover videos. Or maybe they are trying to scare them.
What I thought was strange was this was not a phone conversation taped. It was a video. I thought maybe I did not know the specifics of the law. Think about people on the street with a video camera? A tourist?
I swear Holder and obama are in on this. Obama loses ACORN he will not be elected thru voter fraud he plans on.
They can hide out in the south and film exposés about the communist northeast to their heart’s content. Declare Maryland as a state in sedition. If they send goons to grab these people, arrest them for attempted kidnapping and state terrorism. Both carry the death penalty.
Huh?
Why aren’t the ACORN workers in jail?
If they ran this sting on more than the two ACORN offices (Several cities in various parts of the country would be best)Could result in a HUGE backlash should a don Corleone type "offer they can't refuse" happen in the near future.
I was waiting for this. It’s exactly what happened to Linda Tripp when she recorded her conversations with Monica Lewinsky. In that case, I believe she was in VA and Lexinsky was in MD, and no consent is required in VA.

Here we go.
Before we answer that question, we first have to know the person making the decisions about prosecutions in Maryland. Who exactly is Patricia Jessamy, the Baltimore City States Attorney whose office threatened to prosecute the undercover reporters that exposed ACORNs pimp-protecting and tax-evasion operation? Chris at HAP does a lot of legwork on Jessamy and finds a partisan Democrat who has invested both time and money in supporting Barack Obama:
Baltimore, Queen Nanzi’s hometown????
Just let them try! There will be more than HELL TO PAY if they even THINK ABOUT IT!
It is difficult to shame the shameless out of politically motivated prosecutions.
Some great freepers did a little digging last night, turns out Jessamy has ties to ACORN. Apparently there’s a lot more to this.
I wasn’t referring to shame. Political pressure from people who are SICK OF ACORN.
Stands to reason that Maryland would have laws to protect criminals!
John Stossel is a conservative too.
These people all belong behind bars. They all use their positions to advance their agenda’s.
It appears if the states attorney supports Obama, then she support ACORN.
Much needs to get out about this.
