James O'Keefe's foray into filmmaking may cost him a few years in the slammer.
O'Keefe and fellow conservative activist/budding investigative journalist Hannah Giles were the ones who dressed up like a pimp and a prostitute, respectively (or not), and went to the offices of the Association of Community Organizers for Reform Now (ACORN) in D.C. and Baltimore looking for advice on how to buy a house.
The resulting video caused quite a commotion and resulted in the firing of four ACORN employees, as well as other repercussions for those who support the organization.
In Maryland, it's against the law to tape a person without their prior permission. It's also illegal to "willfully use or willfully disclose the content of said audio," Baltimore City State Attorney Patricia Jessamy said in a statement released late Friday.
She added: "The penalty for the unlawful interception, disclosure or use of it is a felony punishable up to five years."
The Baltimore City State Attorney's Office is investigating the matter.

One of the things that popped into my head when I read the “it’s against the law to tape a person without their prior permission” was does the Baltimore police or any Maryland troopers or county Sheriff’s use dash cams in their police cars with the officer mic’d and recording audio? I wonder if any episode of Cops was taped in Maryland?
It would seem to me that dash cams in police cruisers with their ‘recording’ of the audio of the person stopped and not telling them that they are being recorded would be a violation of the state law.
Ooooops... crazy me. For a second there I forgot that the law doesn’t apply to any of them. Only when it’s done for a conservative effort does it violate the law.

I don’t know if the “disclosure” provision extends to Glenn Beck, but he’d better be careful when he goes to Maryland.
If the couple who did the sting were black, they would probably be hailed as heroes.
No, part of what he cleverly does is turn the Alinsky tricks back around on the Marxists. The one he mentioned on tv the other day is, "Use their rules against them." We see the left do this all the time when they scream about a Republican's sexual indiscretion but give Barney Frank's brothel operation a pass.
This is what these two young reporters did by going into ACORN and just pushing the envelope to see how much they could get away with. Amazing work.
ACORN (they) protect themselves coming and going. I think the kids should go into hiding.
According to some, the law was passed to stop perverts from doing things such as upskirt videos. And, as we can see, things have clearly run amok.
So give them a slap on the wrist and then turn attention to the real offenders @ ACORN.

What’s their argument, implied consent? I’d say the same applies here since the ACORNistas are taxpayer funded.
Odd how 60 Minutes never had this problem... and all the local “investigative” reporters don’t have this problem. Guess it’s just “bad” when a liberal is being exposed...
If something happened to these two - we all need to get our cell phones and go in and tape ACORN. IT'll be a "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" moment - they will rue the day they arrested these two brave journalists...
Excellent point. If this 'investigation' goes forward I would bet there are instances where 60 minutes and other liberal organizations have done the exact same thing without being investigated or prosecuted that will be uncovered.

She is a known democrat partisan, Obama supporter and has ties to ACORN herself.

Maybe O’Keefe anticipated this and he has something on her as well. Remember... there are 48 hours of tape and we’ve only seen about two hours.
ACORN is a corrupt organization run by WHITE slave owners who do not give a sh*& about the people they are supposed to help. It does nothing but help rot the system they want to blow up and create a new uptopia. ACORN, TIDES, STORM, SEIU, AmeriaCorps, Cloward-Piven, Soros, NEA. They believe they are working to a more fair nation, one they rule. Truth be told, they already do!
