A 15-year-old Brooklyn boy shot himself in the penis Sunday after fumbling with a gun that had slid from his waistband, authorities said yesterday.
Khamir Grant was then arrested for reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon -- the same charges levied against Burress, who shot himself at a Manhattan nightclub in 2008, law-enforcement sources said.

Technically it is just "removed from the gene pool" which is usually by death. In this case, the punk is probably still capable of reproducing - so he is still not really a Darwin award candidate. But if he were a more effective accidental shooter, then he would be the unique legitimate SURVIVING Darwin Award candidate.

This sort of accident is actually a GOOD thing for the gene pool.

That’s just a matter of time. The ‘before reproducing’ requirement may have been satisfied.... That’s why he’s a candidate, rather than a winner at this stage.
Some guns have only a palm safety. Therefore, when the weapon slips down their pants, and their trying to feel for it (sorry), they inadvertantly pull the trigger—which probably has a light pull anyway.
I suspect the gun was small cheap automatic. Accidentally firing a single shot revolver tends to be a bit more difficult because the trigger pull must do a lot more than on an automatic. The trigger action rotates the cylinder as well as releasing the sear.
A Glock doesn’t have a decocker.
I bet the nurses had a lot of fun at this idiot’s expense—in their locker room, of course.
