Coast Guard fired on boat in the Potomac, nothing on the wires yet...
I simply cannot believe that there is a person in this universe that:
a) Held a meeting about a training exercise in the Potomac on 9/11 close to where the POTUS was going to be speaking.
and
b) Came to the conclusion that this was a great idea and approved it.
I’ve seen some stupid things in my life but this has to be at the top of the list.
So what actually happened here? Someone in the media see’s a coastguard boat speed up and reports a possible terrorist incident. Over reporting by media without confirmation, that’s all we have here I think.

The Coasties are not responsible for this. It is the harbor unit of the DC police department from what I could see.
Here is what is damn funny. They, CNN, or some related flunky were monitoring the radio chatter and this is what they based the incident on. One guy says "halt or we will fire on you!" Then another says "Bang! Bang! Bang! (ten times) and the CNN news flash is born!!!!

This was all CNN! The guy in charge of the boats thought that as long as they were all together in the water and there job was done, that it would be a good idea to run a training scenario. I would have done the same thing!
CNN failed to verify this before airing it, and they went to air immediately with a bunch of shit. Now they are trying to find someone,,,,,,anyone to blame for their ignorance and incompetence.

Since The One has been in office, we have had two Muslim led terrorist events conductedagainst the American people. One happened in New York for a photo op. The second one happened on 9/11.
No live fire! Unless you want to count the guy saying "Bang, Bang, Bang on the radio.....ten times.....
I know it’s been said a gazillion times before but I must say it again....
...if these incidents had happened on Bush’s watch there’d have been no end of excoriation. Heads would fall, folks would be fired....not some poor schlub in the backroom....Rumsfeld, Cheney...et al.
WHERE ARE THE REPUBLICANS? You know what the Dems would have done during the Bush era after an incident like this?
Chuck Schumer would have called a news conference. He and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi and maybe the chair of the Homeland Security committee would announce, gravely, that if the President screws up like this then it’s time for Rumsfeld, Ridge and Cheney to go. They’d show films of the incident, get testimony from American citizens near the place where the “mistake” occurred. There’d be a little kid on hand, one who’d suffered irrepable mental harm from the noise/sight/sirens.
It’s the stuff Chris Matthews spits over.
I have now gone from the govt is stupidly holding a terrorist attack practice on 9/11 to the govt is lying about an actual terrorist related incident they don’t want us to know about.
I doubt whether it was an exercise. I agree with Capt Hank that it’s S.O.P. to issue a warning before such exercises are held.
But if the President really was visiting the Pentagon at the time, it’s also S.O.P. to have armed Coast Guard vessels standing off shore if the President will be passing anywhere near the water.
I remember that clinton repeatedly visited Manhattan for fund raisers or UN visits, and when his convoy was expected to come down the East Side Drive—or the West Side Drive—there would be Coast Guard vessels in the river for a couple of hours before and after he went by, presumably looking for divers and guarding against any odd boats.
Typical of the media to leap first and then ask questions. They did the same thing with the case of the man who abducted the 11 year old 18 years ago by reporting that a bone fragment was found, but that tests were pending on whether it was human or not. Why can’t they wait and obtain verification before reporting anything? This is the reason we have morons in this country like Charlie Sheen writing letters and making Youtube videos demanding Obozo investigate the Bush Admin for having committed 9/11 themselves.

HAAAA....now fox is reporting a bomb threat at a school in detroit!!!!!!! The media is out of control.
I’m not buying that it was actually a training exercise. What bonehead would schedule an exercise with live fire on 9/11 that close to DC? Even if it was simulated ... having the exercise of this kind on today of all days.
