I wish someone on our side with a bigger platform would raise this issue.

Ok, fine. We start by taxing those who want abortions!

Max Baucus wants to “curb activities that increase overall health care costs.”

I’d say a sodomy tax would be a good start. Given what it now costs to screen blood donations alone.

The gay lifestyle is sickening and should never, ever be encouraged.

On one side of the debate, I hear the 3 card monte dealer in chief saying his approach will not add anything to the deficit because removing fraud from medicare and putting records on line will save many billions. Also on that side of the debate, I hear a prominent senator saying we need to tax everything under the sun and increase current taxes on the “wealthy” to accommodate the liar's objective. Seems to me that side of the debate is all about two things, reducing current benefits and increasing taxes. On the other side of the debate, I hear we need a change to the current system and we need to accommodate that by insuring CITIZENS only, fixing the jackpot tort system, removing insurance restrictions, and not raising taxes in a recession.

Seems to me, both sides are planning on increasing the size of the deficit no matter what approach is taken as it is simple arithmetic: more covered means higher costs. I believe the GOP version would result in a smaller deficit but let's not kid ourselves here, just like with the prescription drug benefit simple minded Bush pushed through against the wishes of the conservatives, it was advertised to cost 20% of what the actual costs have been, even with the donut hole both sides now want to eliminate!

We need 535 NEW representatives in DC IMO. I cannot stomach these people anymore.

Vince

Too little, too late; they probably could have paid off the deficit with what they’d have collected from Ted Kennedy. Of course, there’s still Bawhney Fwank....

Wash’t there a report, I think I read it on FR, that showed that “healthy” people actually have the highest total medical costs from birth to death?

Max Baucus wants to “curb activities that increase overall health care costs.”

Welfare mothers popping out babies like bullets? Lack of exercise by social dependents? The liberal lifestyle crap taught to the kids in the public schools?

How does he plan on taxing left wing lifestyles? How is he going to get them to pay anything at all? They can't even pay for their own condoms.

Max also aims to “Impose an Excise Tax on Sugar Sweetened Beverages.” Fat people and children use lots of sugar, so “government” has to make sugar expensive because obesity “drives up health care costs within the system.”

Max is apparently an idiot. There are VERY few sugar sweetened beverages in America. Almost all are sweetened with corn syrup, largely because government protective tariffs have kept sugar prices in USA about twice the world price, mostly to protect US sugar growers so they can more effectively destroy the Everglades.

There is some evidence that corn syrup is more effective at causing obesity than sugar.

So this has been a sort of hat trick of government unintended consequences:

1. Make consumers pay a lot more for products.

2. Cause or contribute to an increased incidence of obesity.

3. Cause significant environmental damage to a highly sensitive area.

More proof that Leftism is a RELIGION...now they want to stop the “sinnin’” by having sinners pay a penance. Of course they define the sins.

Did they include a mountain climbing tax, skiing tax, bicycling tax. All behaviors easily avoidable.

Sure! And a special coverage for ‘hookers’... we could call it 'Metropolitan Street Life'...for when their p*&^s slap them around or for when THEY get aids... why not just let the American taxpayer pick up the WHOLE tab? Absurd as this sounds, this is where Liberals want to take us. In the end, I didn’t go to the party, I don’t want to pay for the party!!!

“Northeastern University reports many Young Urban Blacks males live a very violent lifestyle which is very costly for us. They stab and shoot each other filling our hospitals at an alarming rate.”

.....in 1999 I was badly injured and med-evaced to Baltimore Shock Trauma hospital...the guy in the bed next to me was a young gang banger who had been shot in the chest...he was still alive only because his pace maker deflected the bullet....the ER staff knew him and called him by name....they had installed his pace maker the year before when he took a slug!!

This is how we go around and around the central issue of governmental intrusion as a 'gate-keeper' and 'decider'. If the Government starts making a decision on lifestyle and its effects upon health, then that will stand as precedent and what a thorny wicket that will be forever more.

Combine this with some of the Obama Team's published writings and only 20-30 year olds in proven perfect GENETICS, health and lifestyles will get the top rates and avoid penalties. Will they wear a gold star on their foreheads or will those of us who fail these tests wear the visible identifications? After all, how else will health care providers and others be able to identify those that need to be treated differently?

When an Insurance Company rep's decision is disagreed with, there are avenues of appeal. When it is the GOVERNMENT, where can the appeal be made? Personally, for me this is rapidly becoming a prescription for a dystopia, not the country that our Founders established.

For gutless liberals drinkers fat people and little kids who love sweets are much easier targets.

Ted Kennedy got two of the three, how did they miss him?

“I wish someone on our side with a bigger platform would raise
this issue.”

If the Democrats were consistent, they would follow the example
of Castro’ healthcare system.
A few days ago, I heard some American M.D. sing praises to Castro
and the Cuban health care system.

Funny, no mention that Castro had patients with AIDS/HIV locked away
in compounds...yep, no walking around the countryside.
But the one upside is that the inmates got really good nutrition,
eating steak when the average Cuban has to settle for thin soup.
This was documented on CBS’s Sixty Minutes.
