~ EXCERPT ~

Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) apologized Wednesday night to White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel for shouting “You lie!” during President Obama’s healthcare speech before a joint session of Congress.

Emanuel accepted Wilson’s apology on behalf of the president, according to a Democratic source familiar with the call.

In addition to his phone call to Emanuel, Wilson also issued a statement separately, calling his comments “inappropriate and regrettable.”

When Tom Harkin, pip squeak D-Iowa, insulted the Chief Justice of the US during Clintons impeachment, (called out “we are not jurist”) the media did not demand that he apologize. Why should Wilson?

And its variant, "What has been said cannot be unsaid."

Well done, Joe. Had you called a press conference to speak your views, the presstitutes would have ignored you. This way you were heard, as well you should have been. You speak for many of us!

"now he should go on television "

Obama controls television. The media will probably just show pictures of him taking out the garbage in his pajamas and talk about a "D" he once received in some high school class.

The problem is that the networks will probably tape future Dem Pres addresses to Congress and show them only after they have edited them.

If you’re going to have to take it back, next time throw roses or underwear or your motel key. Not your word.

Maybe you should contact Conservative Central and have them revoke my membership.

Relax my friend, this will spark substantive debate in the days to follow. It's a means to end, and one must pay the ferryman first....

It is fast becomming an endangered spicies though.

If I had said that, hell would have been frozen over for a long time begore I apologized.

But as much as it pains me to say it, he did what he had to do.

He, like Sarah Palin , was probably getting more grief from Republicans than he was Democrats.

When one is as cowardly as most of the Republican politicians are, life must be miserable.

he did a bonehead thing and is, perhaps, a bonehead - there’s a time and a place and this wasn’t it. He has become the news and a sad caricature with which to misconstrue our genuine grievances.

In the Australian House of Representatives last month, opposition member Julia Gillard interrupted a speech by the minister of health thusly: "I move that that sniveling grub over there be not further heard.''

For that, the good woman was ordered removed from the House, if only for a day. She might have escaped that little time-out if she had responded to the speaker's demand for an apology with something other than "If I have offended grubs, I withdraw unconditionally.''

My thoughts exactly. The only lesson the Dems learned from this is that it was too much like an unscripted Joe the Plumber moment and must not be allowed to happen again.
