SAN DIEGO - The Pentagon released the name Wednesday of a 30-year-old Camp Pendleton-based Marine Corps officer killed in combat in Afghanistan.
Capt. Joshua Meadows of Bastrop, Texas, died in Farah Province on Saturday, according to the Department of Defense.
Meadows was a member of 1st Marine Special Operations Battalion, Marine Corps Forces Special Operations Command.
Prayers up for his family, and his unit. I will have other thoughts, however, for the Leaders if this is another case of our brave warriors killed by the current ROE, or lack thereof.
Prayers up for the Capt. and his family.
If the ROE won’t let them fight to win, bring them home.
Their lives are too dear to us to do otherwise.
I agree. Bring them home.
They are making the ultimate sacrifice to keep the poppy fields open for international criminals.
God Bless Capt. Joshua Meadows. My prayers are with his family. This is so sad.
Where are the protesters now?
I had this conversation with members of this very unit recently and they have their own ROE, but most line unit are too constrained.
Thanking you and your son for his service and your sacrifice.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high. If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. Lt.-Col. John McCrae (1872 - 1918)
Revelation 21:4:
“He wil wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
