Republican State Senator Mark Amodei says he will run against Nevada Democratic Senator Harry Reid.
Amodei made the announcement Wednesday morning at the World Market Center in downtown Las Vegas.
Amodei graduated from the University of Reno, served in the army, and was voted "Outstanding Freshman Legislator" in 1997.

Another Harry Reid thread.
Amodei is from northern Nevada, not Vegas, like most of the Republican field is. There was once a tradition that Nevada elected one U.S. Senator from Clark County and one from northern Nevada, but that ended with Reid’s election in 1986.
Some of these folks need to take a shot at the other NV races, statewide and the 2 Congressional seats. Those are all important, too.

You make a good point. Things is, a longtime incumbent with an approval rating of under 40% is a very inviting target. Of course, they may not last. Reid will raise about $25 million, and that kind of money can change a lot of minds.
Short of using that money to directly buy votes, I don’t envision any scenario where Reid keeps his job.
Hopefully, they guy’s also a Mormon, which counts very big in UT, especially in outlying counties.
How can we help this guy? Is he the best of the Republican group?
“Is he the best of the Republican group?”
I don’t know yet. The field is still forming, but none of the candidates are very well-known.
I’m inclined to back one of the 2 candidates that Reid is already trailing in the polls. That’s Danny Tarkanian and Sue Lowden I believe.
We don’t need a huge crowded field.
