(NC Gov) Perdue's poll numbers in the basement
News & Observer - Under the Dome ^ | September 9, 2009 | mbiesek

Two new polls show Gov. Beverly Perdue's approval ratings continue to suffer.

Poll results released Wednesday by left-leaning Public Policy Polling show Perdue's job approval rating at 26 percent, with 54 percent of voters indicating disapproval of her performence.

In a blog post, pollster Tom Jensen suggests the governor's numbers are now so low, she might as well shoot for the moon.

"For Perdue, her weak numbers provide a great opportunity," Jensen write. "It's close to impossible for her to be any less popular so she should move forward with a more bold and transformational vision for the state and not worry about the political consequences of it. If she doesn't do anything significantly differently for the next three years she's going to be a one term governor anyway."

A poll by the conservative Civitas Institute is actually a little more generous.

When asked if they approve or disapprove of the job Perdue is doing as Governor, only 29 percent said she was doing a good job. Meanwhile, 50 percent said they disapproved of her performance.

"Perdue continues to struggle to connect with voters," Francis De Luca, executive director of Civitas, said in a blog post accompanying the poll results. "Her approval ratings show that voters are not satisfied with the direction the governor is setting for the state and are troubled by missteps such as cutting budgets while simultaneously hiring a $136,000 per year communications professional for her office."

Great may this curse continue to fester, grow and destroy all liberals across the nation.

I'm friendly with a couple of people that worked closely with Purdue.

I know them both well enough to ask this past November "So, what's up with Purdue? What do you think of her?"

Neither one would give a straight answer. One guy, who I'm particularly friendly with, said that "She's the most politically motivated person that he knows." ...which is a left-handed compliment if I've ever heard one.

Pretty bad when the people on her campaign can't say positive things about her. If she runs any other year than 2008, she gets her head handed to her.

I couldn’t believe NC went to the dark side in 2008.

“I couldn’t believe NC went to the dark side in 2008.”

Yeah, that was tough to fathom, along with VA.

I couldn’t believe NC went to the dark side in 2008.

It's the carpetbagging liberal yankees who have moved down here because they ran out of things to destroy back up north. The only difference between them and illegal Mexicans is that they are not illegal.

We're hoping she has some skeletons in the closet and gets run out of town along with Gov. Sanford of SC.

Whoa Nelly! Perdue is sinking? Wouldn’t have anything to do with the full 1% temporary sales tax increase that is killing businesses and making poor children even more so? (The last “temporary sales tax hike” is still in place). After being Lt Gov she found ways to make it even worse. Glad I am moving. NC decided to break the law they made by Blocking the lawful gas tax decrease that was scheduled. I am moving soon, so the arrogant Lib yanks can keep this trash bin. They seem to think these are the only Mtns in the world, and I call them hills after living in AK.

She is less competent and almost as corrupt than Mike Sleazly.

“I couldn’t believe NC went to the dark side in 2008.”

I can and you can expect the state to remain in play more often than not in the future. Take the triangle for instance. It and the other high growth areas have been taken over by yankees and mexicans.

Transplants from New York and New Jersey (North Carolina is the new South Florida in that regard), combined with high black turnout, caused Nawth Carolina to go for Obozo. The latte sippers and government employees in NoVa gave the Old Dominion to Obozo. Folks of all races bitter over foreclosures, Puerto Ricans in the Orlando area, high black turnout, and the Condo Communists in SE Florida brought the Sunshine State to Obama.

Edit to add that while the mexicans generally can’t vote now their kids will be able to. Anybody who has gone into an NC elementary school can tell you the demographics and the adverse consequences those demographics will have for conservatives in fifteen years.

The Mexicans don't vote yet. The Yankees from Lawn Guyland and New Jersey do, however.

That being said, NC for many years elected guys like Hunt and Easley thanks to the "Blue Dogs" in the eastern part of the state. Has a long tradition of "talk right, act left" Democrats long before the Yankee invasion.
