Obama and the Bureaucratization of Health Care
The president's proposals would give unelected officials life-and-death rationing powers.
By SARAH PALIN
Writing in the New York Times last month, President Barack Obama asked that Americans "talk with one another, and not over one another" as our health-care debate moves forward.
I couldn't agree more. Let's engage the other side's arguments, and let's allow Americans to decide for themselves whether the Democrats' health-care proposals should become governing law.
Some 45 years ago Ronald Reagan said that "no one in this country should be denied medical care because of a lack of funds." Each of us knows that we have an obligation to care for the old, the young and the sick. We stand strongest when we stand with the weakest among us.
We also know that our current health-care system too often burdens individuals and businessesparticularly small businesseswith crippling expenses. And we know that allowing government health-care spending to continue at current rates will only add to our ever-expanding deficit.
How can we ensure that those who need medical care receive it while also reducing health-care costs? The answers offered by Democrats in Washington all rest on one principle: that increased government involvement can solve the problem. I fundamentally disagree.
Common sense tells us that the government's attempts to solve large problems more often create new ones. Common sense also tells us that a top-down, one-size-fits-all plan will not improve the workings of a nationwide health-care system that accounts for one-sixth of our economy. And common sense tells us to be skeptical when President Obama promises that the Democrats' proposals "will provide more stability and security to every American."
With all due respect, Americans are used to this kind of sweeping promise from Washington.
Let's talk about specifics.

Beauty and Brains is a great combination. Palin/Coulter ‘12
Pray for America and Lady Palin
Good work Sarah! She tells it like it is and so everyone can understand it! Great piece and great timing WSJ!
isn’t she just great....
Give ‘em hell, Sarah!!
I can’t wait for her to go head to head with this commie. She’ll be fearless going after his radical past - Ayers, Wright, Jones, et al.
Jim DeMint was just on Greta and he applauded what Sarah had to say. Said he read what she wrote and loved it. FINALLY, someone in the GOP with guts just like Sarah to stand up for what is right. This is Sarah’s response to Obama’s speech tomorrow, perfect timing that it is appearing tomorrow. I bet Obama is wee weeing himself a lot right now
I’m glad Palin wrote this as an op-ed instead of on Facebook. WSJ is widely read and it’ll definitely be picked up in the news tomorrow.
MSM: “Oh that silly Sarah, the Death Panel alarmist who quit her job, she’s such a ditz and did we mention maybe she was wearing those campaign clothes she stole when she wrote this, and that Levi says she’s having marital problems?”
“When will she go away so we can talk about Dear Leader?”
I was wondering today when Sarah would wade into this debate. Republicans, while doing poorly, are also out of touch with conservatives on most issues, not just Democrats. Conservatives are having to carry the water for our elected reps, and we are doing very well thank you! But, we need leadership. If for no other reason, we need to start fighting for the 2010 elections. Sarah will fit the bill for our leadership in the upcoming fight. Go get’m Sarah.
CUDA,CUDA,CUDA! The woman has more common sense in her pinkie than Obama has in his entire Marxist body.
She cuts right to the chase and exposes BO for what he is: BS
Actually I’d kind of like to see Palin/Beck. Both have a proven power of taking a message to the people. Coulter is OK for preaching to the choir, Beck faces a more general audience.
Putting that journalism degree to work and driving Dems crazy one electron at a time.
Palin/Bachmann or Bachmann/Palin. Either way it would be a terrific combo, that would have 0bozo & the demoRATs sputtering in their coke lines.
