The Supreme Court will weigh First Amendment rights against campaign finance law when it holds a rare September argument Wednesday to review a case that started as a dispute over an anti-Hillary Clinton movie a conservative group wanted to air during the 2008 presidential primaries.
The politically hot case will also be the first Supreme Court case for new Justice Sonia Sotomayor.
The court will, as is customary, convene its next term on the first Monday in October, but this case originates from arguments it first heard in March. Instead of issuing a decision, the justices announced they wanted additional arguments to address their specific interest in reexamining an old ruling and a later opinion that upheld a provision of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law.
The Supreme Court is now looking at whether to strike limits on campaign spending by labor unions and corporations. But despite the court's interest in hearing the expanded arguments, it is still possible the justices will issue a narrow ruling on the case originally brought by Citizens United, which produced a documentary film highly critical of then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Supreme Court is now looking at whether to strike limits on campaign spending. If congress can over rule the court guess how this will turn out.
Sounds like an important case in a blatant attack on free speech. Can’t wait to hear how the conservative wing rules...and the so-called wise latina as well.
Gee thanks, and because of people like this, we're stuck with the Usurper.
I would have preferred Hillary over Obama any day.
Better the devil you know?...............
Ping!
I predict 4 to 4 and can’t imagine which way it will be decided.
Who will have the courage to do the right thing?
Or will cravenly vote against?
I doubt they’ll make the right decision.
So no anti movies for the commie democrats. But Bush bashing anti-Bush movies is just fine?
Yes, any movie smearing a Republican is fine....but, God forbid a true story of corruption about the Clintons.
I wish HILLARY! UNCENSORED would have had this kind of publicity. I was at the premier in L.A. of this film. Peter Paul passes a lie detector test on film with flying colors. Yes, Bill promised to work for Stan Lee Media if Peter funded her campaign.
