Never let a crisis go to waste. We never quite reach the logical end to such reasoning: creating a crisis creates more opportunities to exploit them. Energy—as if we couldn’t bury Venezuela & Iran in oil; jobs—as if a few tax-breaks and soft-pedaling the Gore-hysteria wouldn’t turn the job-market and the economy around; health care—if we’d open insurance competition and drive a stake through the trial-lawyers’ golden calf; education—if we’d abolish the Department of Education and use 50-yr. old (or older) textbooks, TEACH TO THE TEST, and drop social engineering from all curricula. Gad, I’m tired of this.
No. . .they will not go there with Dr. Sowell; even during 'Black History Month'. We know this simply from the 'name in itself' of Obama's video for after speech follow-up; so aptly titled: I Am What I Learn.

Excellent observations! I had noticed his great rush to get things through Congress, but I hadn't really put two and two together on the fact that these things weren't intended to go into effect until quite a while afterwards. I think that's a really important point, since it makes it clear that any claim of "emergency" or "urgent necessity" is simply a lie.
Whats sad is that most of the Infrastructure for the Government take over of YOUR health care passed in the Stimulus Bill and Most people dont even know it.
Sowell is not the first person to say that it won’t be implemented until 2013. Where does it say it? In the bill.
Nationalizing 1/6th of our economy takes time.
I still say “YOU FIRST, CONGRESS”! You put yourselves and your staffs under the plan you want for all of us for 3-4 years and THEN we’ll talk.

Sowell is such a treasure.
I’ve known only a few people who can lie as convincingly as this president. They all had some common qualities- the people in their circle lived in states of confusion, doubt and chaos.
Some people grow wise as they grow old. This is especially true of those who have been accurate observers and describers of the changing world from early in their lives. Sowell is, like Franklin was, a scientist. He advances knowledge.
The tragedy for our nation is that Sowell is not as well known and well respected by most Americans as Franklin was in his day.
