President Obama on Monday announced his selection of Ron Bloom as senior counselor for manufacturing policy.
Speaking at an AFL-CIO picnic in Cincinnati, the president introduced Bloom, who has been a senior adviser to Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner as part of the auto industry task force since February. Bloom, a Harvard Business School graduate, previously advised the United Steelworkers union and worked as an investment banker.
"As my new point person on manufacturing, he's going to help us craft the policies that will create the next generation of great manufacturing jobs and ensure American competitiveness in the 21st century," Obama said.
Bloom will work with the National Economic Council to develop and plan policy for Obama's efforts to revitalize U.S. manufacturing, the White House said. He will retain his position on the auto task force.
The U.S. manufacturing industry has lost hundreds of thousands of jobs in recent years to overseas competition as some U.S. businesses have relocated abroad to take advantage of cheaper labor. Bringing an invigorated manufacturing base back to the United States was a campaign pledge Obama made last year.

We'll still make a good amount of autos, commercial aircraft is a strength, but as a guy in a shop in Greenport L.I. told me, he had 500 different items in his shop and he could take me to exactly where each of the five American made products were to be found. So this Czar Bloom (a Jewish Czar, Tevia would be surprised)has a big challenge.

If he wants to have a manufacturing adviser in the White House, I don’t have a problem with that. But the federal government should privatize GM and return it to control by corporate management and shareholders as soon as possible. Tax money and borrowed money from the Treasury should not be used to subsidize GM and the UAW without even a vote in congress to authorize that spending. GM should be privatized as soon as it can run a positive cash flow and stand on its own. It doesn’t have to make an accounting profit, it just has to run a positive cash flow and survive. Cashiers making $12 per hour at Target should not be paying taxes to subsidize UAW assembly workers making $28 per hour plus a ton of benefits.
Question...Since this is Congresses fault for indulging this supposed President’s abuse of power, is Congress part of:
1. Letting the President’s Office do their dirty work, not wanting their DNA on the process
2. Establishing perpetual political positions for themselves
3. Criminal Negligence and dereliction of duty
4. Absolute Corruption
5. Unconstitutional actions
6. Coup upon the American people
7. All the above
WHAT manufacturing, it is laying off and shipping overseas! We don’t produce anymore, and that is the problem!!
