Renegade state Sen. Scott P. Brown, a Republican from Wrentham, told the Herald this morning he is testing the waters for a run at the seat of the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy.
Although he wont formally declare his candidacy yet, Brown said he plans to spend the next week raising a small amount of money, as federal election laws permit for those who are exploring a run for U.S. Senate.

Massachusetts would just cancel the election, if the weather really is too bad for the majority of voters to participate.

It's really going to be nearly impossible for any non-Democrat to actually win this race. Also, no matter who the final Republican candidate really is for this race, if Curt Schilling also officially runs for this seat as an Independent candidate, then it will, also, greatly increase the chances for victory EVEN MORE by the final Democratic candidate for this seat.

I’ve got to think because they called him “renegade” that means really conservative?

Joe Kennedy just announced he isn’t interested in running.
I wonder if the widow will?

Scott Brown seems like a good man, but I don’t see him winning in MA. I do have one question about it- does this mean that Curt Schilling won’t run?

This would be the best time for Curt to run. If he can’t run as a Republican, run him as an Ind. (w/GOP $$$) I think him running as an Ind. works to his advantage.

It can work to Schilling’s advantage, but Republicans will have to clear their own field.

If a Republican can turn independent (or Democrat) once in office, surely an independent could turn Republican? I know he could always caucus with them.

If Schilling does not run then Brown may be our best choice even if he isn’t likely to win.
1 “Republican” I think could win is ex-RINO Governor A. Paul Cellcui. I’m not getting the vibe that he is likley to run though.

That's an interesting thought. Paul Cellucci. He's a RINO, but again, this is MA.
I still like Curt much, much better. Could live with Cellucci. I don't think he'd (Cellucci) win though.
The GOP/IND in MA needs to coalesce around 1 candidate and have a united front against the Rats.

It’s not Coach Tarkanian that is running againt Harry Reid, it’s his son. Reid is currently behind in the polls against three potential GOP nominees, including Tarkanian.

Wasn’t Cellucci the RINO Governor that wanted elementary-school students to be taught about “fisting” and other deviant sexual practices?
GOPsterinMA, what exactly is it about Scott Brown that makes you say that he may run for Lt. Gov. or Gov. some day but would have no interest in being a U.S. Senator?

“Scott Brown seems like a good man, but I dont see him winning in MA.”
Of course, MA is the state in which he has been elected numerous times to the state house and the state senate, in a state senate district that gave President Bush only around 41% in 2004 (4% more than his 37% statewide), so it isn’t that far-fetched that Brown could be elected statewide.

“fisting”
Uh yeah
http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2001/4/4/204631.shtml
It’s a shame Jesse Helms didn’t do him in like he did to Weld when Clinton tried to make him an ambassador (how awesome was that?). But obviously graphic sex ed isn’t to US-Canadian relations what drugs are to US-Mexican relations. And of course it was Republican Bush who appointed Argo.

Cellucci’s a RINO, for sure!
Scott Brown...
Who?
Very little name recognition.
I could see where a run for the US Senate get his name out there and that strengthens his name for a Gov./Lt. Gov run. Again, that's just my opinion.
