I suppose we need something to give up when we disarm.

new B-52 bomber I've got the plans right here...
To: george76
This is too funny. They are finally going to make a squadron of the bombers they have been keeping up to date but supposedly not in the active inventory.

I wish they were reactivating the 100th bomb group but I would guess you would have to call it a bomb wing.

Which one is being converted to a plush interior, 24 flight attendants upgraded avionic and exotic paint job just in case “Mack Daddy the Zebra” wants to go for diner with his other half from Washington, D.C. nonstop to New York?
Of course ALL at the expense of the tax payers including the tip.

I saw my first BUFF in Guam when I was on my way to Chu Lai Viet Nam.
I think that was about December 20th 1966.

A very long time ago in a galaxy very far away, I live in Omaha Neb. near the Offet AFB. They held a drill and every BUFF took off! What a sight to behold, it was then I knew it was the sound of freedom!
Then, when I was back in my beloved CORPS stationed in Yuma, Az. I was posted at the “hot spot” [a rapid response post in the middle of the airfield] & after the Yuma air show we had a B-52 take off and the wings passed right over out P 19 crash fire rescue truck. We were really rocking & rolling then!

Right - It would be better if they were “new” B-52’s - or even better - B’1’s! - than just a single sqdn change.
By the way, doesn’t further “consolidation” into fewer bases mean even MORE vulnerability to a drive-by (Iranian/Russian/Chinese/NK) nuclear truck bomb? ?
