I heard just anybody can walk into a gun show and pick up as many RPGs as they can carry! True story!

NOT. ::rolls eyeballs::

96,487,264 Guns owned by American Citizens were NOT used to commit a crime or KILL someone.

Armed Citizens are FREE. Unarmed Citizens are SUBJECTS!

They must be getting there before the show even opens...that sort of stuff is pretty well picked over by the time I get there (~10 a.m. for a 9 a.m. opening)

Bulls***.

Quite a few of the actual studies out there are baloney. But this isn't even a study. It's a "report."

And surprisingly, they reported that there was no data to back up the conclusions.

Yeah, I had a look at the report, and could hardly find a single statement that wasn't anecdotal. The few statements that weren't anecdotal were just quotes of someone else's study.

That was his excuse. All the activity outside the show. Needless to say that there has been an existing low that with few exceptions prohibit the crossing of state lines to purchase a gun. All those Cal plates at the Reno show. He has no facts as to what they are doing there.

“Illegal transactions were often conducted entirely out in the open,” said Garen Wintemute, professor of emergency medicine at UC Davis School of Medicine and a leading researcher on firearm violence who authored the report. “The sense of impunity among sellers and purchasers in these cases was remarkable.”

What exactly makes them “illegal transactions”? Or are we admitting the problems stem from “illegals”, who shouldn't even be in the U.S. purchasing anything?

No matter, I have a newsflash for the professor: Guns, illegal or not don't CAUSE anything. I have several that have been sitting quietly for decades. Periodically I take them for exorcise and clean and oil them and return them to their resting places. They've never once left on their own to engage in a crime spree. I know for certain, the dog would snitch on them if they did.

Perhaps the professors time would be better spent studying criminals. I have reliable information that they engage in illegal activities at a much higher rate than even politicians. Their sense of impunity, when they think no one is looking is staggering. Statistics show that 100% of firearms used in the commission of crimes has been in the possession of a criminal when the crime was committed.
Don’tcha love statistics?

Who funded the “study”?

Perhaps it is just a case of “Running Soros Syndrome”, A.K.A RSS.

Unlike other open, draining sores, RSS does not respond to antibiotics. The only known cure is a strong dose of strict Constitutionalism.

Resistant cases should be exiled. Extremely resistant cases should be tried for treason, then drawn and quartered.

I could find nothing supporting the thesis of the article either in the teaser or the study (headings) itself—`American Gun Shows Fueling Crime All Over New World Order, West Division’—freely admitting that I passed through this Cali-pasture quickly, watching where I stepped.
It did remind me that deer season is coming up and my B40 rocket inventory is low. Are professors in season yet?

Who wrote that? A freshman?

He needs to go back to grade school. It would be to easy to refute the title of article much less the invented and conjured points.

Hidden camera pictures in the report show dozens of private party or unlicensed gun purchases where no identification is requested or shown.

Well, I doubt that richly, but if that were true, then I'm sure that it would have been borne out of a desire to avoid FOSTERING AN ATMOSPHERE OF INTIMIDATION.

Or wishing to avoid establishing unreasonable barriers, ya know...?

1. Must show ID to enter Town Hall

2. Must show ID to buy firearm

3. No need to show ID to vote
