My 15 and 12 year old daughters attend public school. They are well versed in conservatism and understand the difference between right and wrong (conservatives vs. Obama administration). I called my daughters school about the Obama speech. They said they were recording it and are giving the kids the option to see it the following Friday. To me, its a testament to how the school views this administration. On the other hand, Im finding it difficult to remove my kids from school for the day because it puts them in an awkward position. Not because they're friends are Obama fans. But because a protest based on just 2 kids wouldn't accomplish much except for my kids to get a day behind in studies.
The book is short and not tedious to read. It should be a basic first textbook in any economics class and in every home. It is cheap at Amazon- under $7 for a used one.I once had a case of them which I gave away to nieces and nephews and the offspring of friends and to interested strangers. I still have a couple. Actually you can find the whole thing on line now.

Maybe this would be an appropriate response video - Red Skelton on The Pledge.

I thought they said it was only for elementary schools which doesn’t make much sense. We adults can barely understand a word the man says so how on earth can kids get anything out of listening to THE MAN?
In your case, I would “opt out” for my kids but other schools probably aren’t going to be that accommodating. Those parents will have a choice to make but if I had school age children, the decision wouldn’t be difficult for me. Schools do hate to miss out on that “per pupil” attendance $$ and if they have to learn the hard way, so be it.
Be careful. This could be a trap for GOPers to look foolish and needlessly combative.
Obama’s message could very well be non political and only encouragement for kids to study hard, set goals for themselves etc. The target audience is too young to be targets for policy indoctrination. They wouldn’t understand it anyway at their age. If it turns out otherwise then we should respond accordingly but I wouldn’t try to make this a major battlefield and I wouldn’t keep my kids at home. I trust that they have minds of their own and can recognize indoctrination.
If Obama makes this political he’ll lose ground without our help. The country is on to him now and he won’t get away with forced indoctrination. Don’t start of fight when none is necessary. This isn’t likely to help Obama at all.
Ideally, they would go and bash how stupid it is for a president of a free nation to act like Fidel Castro! Point out that if socialized medicine is so great, why are most Americans against it. If socialism is so great, why are people in socialist nations like Cuba, so poor. Service is something people offer to God; not a socialist. Volunteering is given of free will. It can not be ordered by a socialist. Ordered work with no pay is called slavery.
Errr....you think kids are smarter then we give them credit for? Well maybe they are but the young voted for The One in droves because he was the cool candidate. Kids are extremely vulnerable to peer pressure. And remember what Hitler said to the effect of “give me a child until he’s 7 and I’ll have him for life”.
I’m with the ex-Marine who told Congressman Brian Baird to his face “Stay Away From My Kids”.
What grade Singapore are you using? Do you like it? I used it with a tutee last year and HATED it.
Thank you for that title. I just downloaded it for future lessons!
I think they should just stand up and turn their backs on the TV.
Read it for yourself first.
They are recording it so they can subject kids to it who skip it live. But it doesn’t matter, anyway. Those kids are in government schools anyway where the whole experience is geared to inculcate what Hussein means to present on the 8th. Anyone who keeps his children in government school has essentially given them over to the State for education to State requirements peripheral to which are the traditional academic subjects.
Of course!!
Take a stand while you can.
Then pull then out and send them to private schools or home school them.
That’s what I have said many many times. Public School is prima facie child abuse.
