To Stay Home Or Not To Stay Home

My 15 and 12 year old daughters attend public school. They are well versed in conservatism and understand the difference between right and wrong (conservatives vs. Obama administration). I called my daughters school about the Obama speech. They said they were recording it and are giving the kids the option to see it the following Friday. To me, it’s a testament to how the school views this administration. On the other hand, I’m finding it difficult to remove my kids from school for the day because it puts them in an awkward position. Not because they're friends are Obama fans. But because a protest based on just 2 kids wouldn't accomplish much except for my kids to get a day behind in studies.

If they want to attend, let them attend. Give them copies of either Liberal Facism by Jonah Goldberg or Glenn Beck’s new book, Common Sense, to display prominently with their other books and be reading them when Obama is speaking.

Keep them home ... I would explain they whys it is better to get a day behind in school work and have to have double homework for one day than to be put in a position of peer pressure to support this indoctrination.

Well, it accomplishes 100% of what YOU want to accomplish, which is to 1) not let THEM be pawns of Obama, regardless of who else allows it; 2) protect your children from this horrific intrusion; 3) lets you have some quality time with your kids. Go to Disneyland or something. I would NEVER allow my kid to be indoctrinated, and I wouldn’t worry about what other kids were allowed to do or not. (We homeschooled; I used to teach in the public schools).

Let them go. However, YOU should get a copy and view it somehow and note the issues in the speech. Then sit down with your kids and go through the speech. Show and explain to them the contrast with the conservative point of view.

I think I’d have my kids home - basically as a protest against this brainwashing attempt. It needs to be as unsuccesful as possible

Why do I think the Ayers has something to do with this.....?

Does anyone ever remember any President ever addressing school children during the school day about anything (never-mind assignments attached to it)?

“There’s little that can be done” — I so disagree. You won’t miss much at all, and you can accomplish a whole lot with your kids that day that benefits all of you more than one day in public school will.

If my school shows it, (I don’t know yet), my junior in high school is not going to school.

There will be any instruction that day except barry, so really what’s the point.
Keep them out and have a “fun Friday”. Watch old movies, make popcorn and laugh allot.

Just a thought but...

What is the racial make up of their school? I doubt any black kids will be held out by their parent. If white kids are will they be targeted as racists when they come in the next day?

On the other hand, do any of the kids really care about this the first day of school? I’d probably be thinking, OK something else I don’t have to study for tests.

9/8 is my kids first day of school this year and I don't want them to miss and neither do they.

They are on top of the situation regardless.

I’m thinking of that children’s story about Johnny-Cake.
And the fox say’s, “Come a little closer I can’t hear you”.
Personally, I think he’s getting too close to our children.

Keep them home. Maybe take them to a museum, a veterans’ cemetary, a Civil War battlefield. Some place where they can learn what American “used to be”. Keep the pressure on the school districts to offer an alternative to the Marxist indoctrination. Good luck. And give us some feedback on how it goes!!

They said they were recording it and are giving the kids the option to see it the following Friday.

It's optional, what's your problem? Send them to school and let them sit it out. I assume that the school will have alternatives available for those who don't want to see it.
