Fox News host sparks outrage
Financial Times ^ | 09/02/2009 | Edward Luce

If the White House is trying to figure how it lost control of the debate over healthcare in August, it could take a look at Glenn Beck’s television and radio ratings. The conservative talk radio host, who also has an hourly slot on Fox News every day, has seen his viewer numbers soar even as opponents have pressed companies to withdraw advertising from the show.

See #135 and #142 - he thought you said “MORON”. LOL

He’s dyslexic today.

He has to have security? Did he mention that on a show? I’ve missed his TV show this week...

I believe he is Mormon - by choice. Nothing wrong with that. We were having fun listing the things the media has or will bash him for. He doesn’t care. That’s when you’re strong. When you don’t care what people call you.

As Robert Downey Jr. once rather famously said, don’t know if it was in a movie or about his life, there is a certain freedom in knowing you’re completely and utterly screwed.

His show is like an interesting class with the teacher everybody likes.

I said this to the hub some time ago, I'm so glad to see someone else has the same take!

I had a science teacher in high school who was theatrical like that. Even the kids who didn’t care about science learned in that class simply because it was entertaining.

When I watch him now I still marvel and wonder how he got his start in an age when looks and “cool” seem to count for more than anything else.

I love, and find it very cool, that Glenn wears sneaks and sometimes jeans along with his suit jacket and button-down oxford shirt!

” Where is the statement “Obama, a former Cocaine user”? “

Former ??
The only evidence we have is the word of Pathological Liar in Chief .
Barry wrote in his first memoir that he stopped coke and pot in high school.
And no heroin, oh no ,no, no..he bizarrely volunteered.
Yet, his admitted drug dealing, Pakistani Muslim roommate and life long friend, Sohale Siddiqi
said that Barry stopped using drugs-once he moved to New York City.
Which would have been a couple of years later.
Who to believe, who to believe... ?
A drug dealer or a chronic liar ??
You would think the same media that went beserk over GW’s DUI would have some interest in discovering the truth about Barry’s drug use.
Did he quit cold turkey or go into rehab ?
Had he had any relapses?
Did he really quit ?

He needs to move around a lot too. You know who probably would like to do him harm? Mike Savage. He’s probably so envious he could spit.

He talks about it on his radio show, lots of mention when he was telling us he got the *girlfriend* for his male German Shepherd, they are specially trained dogs, the fact that he concealed-carries (or is that more properly written carries concealed? My apologies for not knowing correct terminology), etc.

Well, I like it that he isn’t carrying water for the rinos, but I’m just not sure where that leaves us. Maybe I don’t watch or listen enough.

Beck is a “RECOVERING” alcoholic.

Obummer is an “HABITUAL” liar.

Hmm...lessee...some of Glenn’s advertisers have been scared off by the Left, and his ratings have skyrocketed. New advertisers will be buying in at the higher rates because that’s the way it works. Glenn ought to send the Kos Kiddies a thank-you note. LOL!

Did we go to the same high school? ;) Same with me, I'll never forget the discussion on how we see things, the guy asks someone, "What color is this plant?" Reply (of course), green. "WRONG!!" in a super loud voice, he asks another student, same thing, even louder, "WRONG!!" After the third time 'round, he says, "WRONG!! IT'S EVERY COLOR BUT GREEN!!" and goes on to explain how the color spectrum works, our eyes absorb colors, when it bounces, that is when/why we see color. There were maybe 60 kids in that lecture hall, we're all looking around at each other with the "Huh?" faces until he gets to his explanation.

Great teacher, in that I remember this, other similar episodes. I have a hard time remembering "The Grapes of Wrath", Mr. S. was a total bore in American Lit. :D

Hanover Horton High in Michigan.

Funny about the plants. I was explaining that to my niece a couple of weeks back. You only see the green because that’s what the plant reflects.

“but I don’t like him as much any more. I don’t trust him.”

Neither do I. He has become nothing but an RNC mouthpiece. I’ve caught him several times repeating not the truth but the RNC talking points.

I think the phrase is just ‘carries’. Thanks for that info - I haven’t listened to his radio program. Seeing his TV show maybe once a week for an hour is about all I can handle (of what he says, not Beck himself).

Drama? Don’t get me wrong. I like Glenn’s style. How do you deliver more emphasis on the next even more dramatic story when your at 100% full tilt hysteria? I am concerned that as he continues to increase the dose of drama in the delivery that the hysterics will drowned out the content and thus lose part of the message.

I think he is at about the right level now. For instance, Michael Savage makes some good points and several years ago I liked most of what he had to say. Today, I can’t listen to him because he has become so dramatic, extreme and self absorbed (self pity) that I forget what he was originally all about.

Maybe I am wrong and the product sells so keep adding more and more to it. If he starts running cartoons or wearing a clown suit, I’ll think he has over done it. I want his message and logic to go maintsream. I do not want his charisma to be labeled as radical and have his message discarded.

I want his ratings to continue to rise and I want his stories to have to be covered by other media outlets. I would like to see him become the Drudge Report of government watchdogs.

He is doing great and I now record his shows when I cannot be there.

Several friends and relatives who I've always considered apolitical or liberal-leaning have casually mentioned they watch and like Glen Beck.

I have been slowly seeing the same thing. I have an aquaintence that has gone from "Republicans are evil and Democrats are right" to "The government is all corrupt, you can't trust any of them and this is not what America voted for."

He isn't all the way there yet, but he has never voted for a republican in all his 70+ years.
