Some of the most prominent Republican woman will be in Orlando for the Republican Women's 35th Convention, but arguably the most famous of them all is not making an appearance.
As some of the most prominent Republican women across the country gather next week in Orlando, arguably the most well-known of them will not be in attendance.
Despite an invitation to speak at the conference, Sarah Palin, former vice presidential candidate, and until recently Alaska governor, decided not come to the National Federation of Republican Women's 35th Convention, according to the organization.
An estimated 1,200 Republican women leaders will attend the three day conference, and some of those want Palin to reconsider.
"It is disappointing," says Barbara Davis, who heads the Melbourne, Fla., chapter. "We were hoping that she would come. It would have benefited her to attend."

The GOP continues to be a no-show while Gov. is still under constant attack in almost every way imaginable.
No-show means you agreed to appear and did not. It does not mean you were asked to appear and you turned down the invitation.
That’s a poor reply to a negative headline (especially from Fox).
I think that (regardless of party) headlines should be accurate.
I thought she was planning a trip to Asia. From Alaska I don’t believe Orlando Florida is a usual stop over.
It has been confirmed by SarahPAC that she will hold a speech in Hong Kong. I don’t know whether it coincides with the GOP event... but considering that she has literally thousands of invitations and needs to select and prepare for the best one she chooses, she naturally has to decline the bulk of offers.
Absolutely. The party elites have done everything in their power to help their “Good Friends on the other side of the ailse” while We The People and Sarah are taking the arguements to the Congresscritteres. Elites like McCain, Graham and Hatch are blubbering all over themselves to support the Kennedy aristocracy and Snowe is sponsoring legislation to give the president unilateral authority to shut down the internet on his determination of an emergency.
Then these fools have the audacity to ask for campaign money from us?
I really hope she can make an appearance at the Sept 12 event in DC. Being there would be the best, but if she can’t make that, at least a video or satellite transmission would be nice.
Throw the GOP leadership out and start over, good that Palin will not grace these country clubbers with her presence.
IMO going to a woman’s event tends to marginalise and define female candidates.
If Palin had had a free spot in her calendar, she should still have passed on this one.
What conferences does a 1000lb Grizzly bear attend?

Just out of curiosity.
Is there a “National Federation of Republican Men”?
“National Federation of Republican Women” seems perilously close in the matter of defining ones self by narrow special interest politics, to groups such as La Raza, and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
Sexist, actually.
What a low-blow hit piece with that misleading headline!
My wife is president of one of these clubs, and she definitely is not a RINO.
That jerky head-line makes it seem as if she had backed out after committing. But NO! Even reading just this excerpt makes it clear she had never accepted the invitation in the first place.
I am glad that she isn’t just wildly accepting things merely because they’re labeled “republican.” The GOP has jerked us around enough and needs to know they cannot just blindly count on our support.
Thought so!!!
Hopefully, Sarah's finally got some decent advisers who are wise to the ways of the cesspool of politics and are picking and choosing carefully, her appearances which I hope will include NO (NOT ONE) interview with any major news outlet (INCLUDING FOX) for a long time.
That said, I also hope she shows up in DC on the 12th and takes on DEAR LEADER and the DemoRats.
