Sometimes, 18 kids is simply not enough, so Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of Tonitown, Ark., are expecting a new addition to their household this spring.
That's right, at that point they will have five more children than Nadya "Octomom" Suleman and 11 more children than Jon and Kate Gosselin. Wow.
"We are so thrilled," says Michelle, 42. "We just can't believe it is happening."
You can't, Michelle? Not after the previous 18 times you were pregnant?
Her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, 44, agrees: "I never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We look forward to our first grand baby and 19th child."
Their first grandchild is due soon, as their oldest son Joshua, 21, is apparently getting a fast start in joining the family profession of making humans.
He and his wife are expecting a daughter next month, who will be older than her new aunt or uncle: "I think it is going to be awesome," Josh said.

Well, obviously the Obama Admin needs to move to pass legislation limiting the number of children any family can have to just one or two/sarc

19 would be too many for me too but if it works for them, I’m happy for them. As for being pregnant 1/2 her life-some women are happier and more comfortable pregnant. Like women with menstrual problems. So it can be a good time in life, not a harder one.
They have put their faith in God. He will decide how many children they will have. They have enough faith to KNOW that whatever comes, they will work it through with each other and with God's help.

About issues, about policies, about politics, about culture - sure. And you have the right to say what you want, but it blows my mind - still - that anyone presumes to know better than the parents how many kids they should have.
IN MY OPINION (I am allowed to have one, aren’t I?) I think it’s hard for the child to find their place in the family.
You mean in the Duggar family? I didn't realize you knew them. If so, never mind; if not, don't you think the parents have better knowledge on the dynamics of their family than any of us do?
Don't take me wrong - I'm not in favor of them having more kids. Nor am I against it. I just think it's none of my business.

You can think it, you can say it, you can write it ... doesn’t make it true. From all appearances they are an atttractive, loving, capable and self-sufficient family who all support each other. What’s wrong with that?
From what I see, they are far better off that most of the families I see around here in Yuppieville, where the professional mom heads back to the office within weeks of the birth (or sooner if she can), and hires a nanny to care for all both of her children. Those families are so busy giving their children everything, they’ve taken away the children’s opportunity to be independent. Those kids are set up to expect to be given everything all their lives, incapable of meeting any of life’s real life challenges. That is bad for the children. Having ‘too many’ siblings that the family can obviously afford is not.
Yes, but your distaste is showing through. So what if they have a disabled child? We have ever reason to believe that, like Sarah Palin, they can handle it. More than that, they will love that child as much as the others.
I don’t think their is a problem, I think it’s great. They are true patriots.
I don’t know that much about them, but have been really irritated by others knowing what’s best for them and just clearly loathing them. From what I’ve read tonight, they set up and run several of their own businesses which have made money. They seem to share their experiences with others on how to live within their means. I don’t think they’re your typical Wall Street financial advisors. I could be wrong, but that’s the impression I got.
I think you’ve hit at the crux of the problem with folks on this forum. As long as you are able to take care of a large family without government assistance, have at it.
As a taxpayer, I am sick and tired of rabbit like behavior of people who don’t even work. In no way and means am I grouping you with those people. It strikes a nerve is what I’m saying.
That's kind of funny. Did they use any special technology to have these children? Otherwise, it's seems by definition natural. Do you think IVF is natural?
I watch the program when I can, and I love that family. I think the key for us is that, not only can they afford all those kids on their own, but they RAISE them right. Both those things make this OK in my book.
I'm kinda curious. What exactly is the percentage of that risk? And how much higher is it than 'normal' aged mothers?
Brilliant and true except, of course, it does not apply to the murder of a woman's child inside of her body. That child is her responsibility, not her choice.

I have been trying to “have at it”. No progress so far. I don’t get pregnant easily.
My Grandmother, who passed away in the early 1950's at the age of 95, had fifteen children. The first was born when she was 35, the last was born when she was about 50. My father was one of the last of her children, long after she passed 42. According to you my brother and sister and I and my daughter and niece and nephew should never have been born. Go to hell!
