Duggar Family Expecting 19th Freaking Child!
The Hollywood Gossip ^ | September 1st, 2009

Posted on 09/01/2009 10:09:12 PM PDT by GoldStandard

Sometimes, 18 kids is simply not enough, so Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of Tonitown, Ark., are expecting a new addition to their household this spring.

That's right, at that point they will have five more children than Nadya "Octomom" Suleman and 11 more children than Jon and Kate Gosselin. Wow.

"We are so thrilled," says Michelle, 42. "We just can't believe it is happening."

You can't, Michelle? Not after the previous 18 times you were pregnant?

Her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, 44, agrees: "I never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We look forward to our first grand baby and 19th child."

Their first grandchild is due soon, as their oldest son Joshua, 21, is apparently getting a fast start in joining the family profession of making humans.

He and his wife are expecting a daughter next month, who will be older than her new aunt or uncle: "I think it is going to be awesome," Josh said.

you can say “not good for the children”. I would suggest you watch one show and tell us what you think of the children. Especially, compare them to the children you know or know about. It could be “learning moment”.

That’s just rude. A woman’s body is designed to recover from childbirth. Maybe you could take an childbirth class and maybe an etiquette one too.

It isn't about their wants, needs or values.

It absolutely IS about their wants, needs, and values. This is still America, and this kind of freedom is foundational to our country. The last thing they need is a bunch of busybodies who think they know what's best for a family they don't know.

It's that they are getting into an area where they are at high risk for having very sick or mentally impaired children.

Do you think they don't know this? Do you think your judgment should be substituted for theirs when it comes to their family? Why don't you make these decisions for your family and let them make the decisions for theirs?

If they have 19 healthy ones, count your blessings but be responsible and don't continue to have children when you are older and it is dangerous.

Dangerous to whom?

You and your mom were lucky to beat the odds. Good for you both.

I don't care how many defenders these people have.

While they can certainly have as many kids as they want, it doesn't make it any less weird.

Pumping out a fresh baby on a yearly basis, non-stop, for 20 years is freaking weird.

My comment was in general. Honestly, I really don’t care. I think it’s kind of unnatural. But if it works for them, God Bless ‘Em!

Faith is a beautiful thing. So many of us have forgotten that God’s plan is not necessarily one to serve our entertainment and luxury. Children are wonderful, my Grandfather and Grandmother had 9 children and never were on the public dole. It can be done. You do not have to play by the self-centered rules of today’s modern world. Those who reproduce will inherit the Earth. Those who don’t are sadly like the fig tree that does not bear fruit.

Oh my gosh, I just love this thread. Hysterical and pathetic all at the same time. God bless the Duggars.

They shouldn’t be selfish with their wants, needs and desires.
Plus having babies after 18 of them at a very at risk age is IMO irresponsible.

I think they are nice people, but wow. Why put future children at risk like that when they already have many children?

Haha...I love that word choice to describe exactly what happens when you let nature take its course.

Some of the comments I have read here haven't been much better than those posted on the gossip column. Its a sad day on FR when I these people that resent a good solid Christian home find it in them to reply with a disrespectful comment.

Old Lady Dugger must have that thing held closed by velcro..

How old are you? May I politely suggest you wrap some velcro around your fingers before you hit the keyboard. That's just nasty.

oh, I’m sorry...I was under the impression for the past 11 years that I was coming to a website to give my opinion about the articles posted...I don’t care how many children people have...IN MY OPINION (I am allowed to have one, aren’t I?) I think it’s hard for the child to find their place in the family. But as long as they are taking care of everything it’s nobody’s business.

That has absolutely nothing to do with the discussion. Some people don’t believe in birth control. I am one of them. I will take as many children as the Lord sees fit to bless me with.
You speak of handicapped children like they should be avoided at all costs. They are people with dreams, hopes, ambitions and most of all created by God with a special plan and purpose. Why should the Duggars stop now? Why should they seek to avoid another pregnancy because it is considered high risk (questionable at best)? Will a handicapped child be less human, less valued, less wanted? You seriously need to consider what you are saying here!

Selfish how? How many kids is enough? And - you haven't answered this - how is it any of your business?

Plus having babies after 18 of them at a very at risk age is IMO irresponsible.

How?

I think they are nice people, but wow. Why put future children at risk like that when they already have many children?

It's not like those "future children" will have long, happy lives if they stop having kids. Either the future children will be "at risk" or they simply won't exist. Who are you to decide that for the parents? It seems awfully "big brother" of you.

My father was number 14 out of 15 children.

If my grandmother had stopped at 13, I wouldn’t exist today.
