Duggar Family Expecting 19th Freaking Child!
The Hollywood Gossip ^ | September 1st, 2009

Sometimes, 18 kids is simply not enough, so Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar of Tonitown, Ark., are expecting a new addition to their household this spring.

That's right, at that point they will have five more children than Nadya "Octomom" Suleman and 11 more children than Jon and Kate Gosselin. Wow.

"We are so thrilled," says Michelle, 42. "We just can't believe it is happening."

You can't, Michelle? Not after the previous 18 times you were pregnant?

Her husband, Jim Bob Duggar, 44, agrees: "I never gets old. We are so grateful for each child. We look forward to our first grand baby and 19th child."

Their first grandchild is due soon, as their oldest son Joshua, 21, is apparently getting a fast start in joining the family profession of making humans.

He and his wife are expecting a daughter next month, who will be older than her new aunt or uncle: "I think it is going to be awesome," Josh said.

Why do you label a big, wonderful, genuine, self-supporting, happy Christian family "insane"?

Last time...I was saying in general I think having 20 kids is insane. That is my opinion. I truly don’t care how many children people have as long as they have the means to take care of them. Good luck to them all!

People do irresponsible things all the time.

I think they are nice people.
I think they mean well.
I think they love their family, God and want to do the best to raise all their children well.

Now after we take their good intentions into account, we are still left with a woman of 18 kids in her forties having more kids at an age when she is FAR more likely to NOT have a good outcome.

Some think #19 is cute, others taking things into account think they not realistic and are being irresponsible with possible ramifications beyond themselves that will be placed for life on their other children.
Maybe it's for the money and TV. The show producers do say they are very mindful of the shows production and do like to set scenes up. Things just don't happen to get filmed. This was revealed in the episode when the son announced their own baby coming.

They shop goodwill for most things, they had family leave them property which they rent for income and they make money from the show.

The older kids also do some parental responsibilites with the kids.

I have an 11 month old, so I know more than most in preparation for my son’s birth.

Women over 35 have a lot more known risks these days.

That is statistical risk. That cannot predict what happens in a single case. You know almost nothing about this particular couple.

The statistics aren’t at risk it’s the babies of women over 35 that are.

Read the answer again.

It is not about anyone questioning their love of God or devotion to their kids.

Both Catholics and Protestants who understand scripture, realize contraception is immoral. The Duggars are in the latter group.

You are suggesting the Duggars contracept since she is over 35. You are suggesting that they deviate from God’s plan, For that you are a liberal.

I wouldn’t want to deviate from that plan even if the odds of abnormality in the pregnancy were against me.

Your attitude about watching for “risks” plays right into the pro-abort agenda.

You don't need contraception if you are smart, there are ways. For instance the man can masturbate first and then in a while go with the wife. Very tough for a time right after to have a love explosion but you two can have lots of marital time,
That is a way they could use nothing and not get pregnant.

If they happened to already have 3 mentally challenged children in a row before going for #19 like Octommom, would people be going AHHHHH God said keep them coming?

This is NOT God's plan, it is their's and their choices.

Having already a gazillion kids and risking more over 35 is an issue.

Masturbation is a sin.

You do not value all life equally. This means that your morality has been compromised by the devil.

There is no place in scripture where masturbation is even mentioned, much less forbidden.

It is considered a sin OUTSIDE of marriage in the Catholic Catechism.

So you would advocate having an abortion if the baby was not perfect? When I think of a Down’s baby, I always think of little Robin Elizabeth Rogers who was buried on her 2nd birthday. Dale's book, ANGEL UNAWARE is one of my favorites.

Why is what they do important to you? They are not taking taxpayer’s money, they do not owe for anything, they have enough money to do what they want to and to help others, too. I admire them after seeing some of the brats on that Nanny show. Those parents are the ones who need help.

Did you see the show about their trip to a Central American country? The absolute poverty of that small town made all of them cry to realize that not everyone had it as good as Americans.

I think you made your point. It is amazing how people think they know better than the parents do.

I am glad that they are none of your business. I admire them for doing what is right for them. Both my parents came from large families. My mom always talked about the good times they had growing up. She died in 2007 at the age of 102. The people I really, really feel sorry for are the ones who did not have any siblings and are the last in their family. How do they cope knowing they are the last? I grew up with loads of cousins and we were good friends as well as relatives. Some were cousins on both sides of my parents. Talking about getting others confused. One sister of my mom’s married the nephew of my dad’s. I am glad that there are several of us who are into genealogy so we can pass along this info to future generations.
