White House officials are increasingly worried liberal, anti-war Democrats will demand a premature end to the Afghanistan war before President Barack Obama can show signs of progress (AP photo).

A leader, a President, should not put his left wing before decisions of this magnitude.
But then again... he is so low in the polls he has to please his left wing to please himself.
Nuts!
This is why he’s declared war on the CIA...to try and get those moonbats to calm down. Won’t work.
Is that the point of the Afhgan war?
Hey! He's surrendering as fast as he can, f'cryin' out loud!
....Afganistan will not be easily subdued...ask the Ruskies...ask the Brits....it is a primative collection of tribes; not a country.
After Obama has declared surrender and pulled us out of Afghanistan will come a backlash against him that will make the furor over Obamacare look mild. America has 20 million vets and family members and they are not timid in their approach to politics.
exactly. as well as a diversion from 0bama Care and his poll numbers. we all know a good leader does not operate in this manner.
If Obama & the Left don’t accept that there IS a War on Terror, or that we are in a war with Terrorists, or that we ought to be fighting a War on Terror,
there seems to be little reason to be fighting in Afghanistan.
Now it is not good for the Christians health to hustle the Arian Brown,
For the Christian riles, and the Arian smiles, and it weareth the Christian down;
And the end of the fight is a tombstone white with the name of the late deceased,
And the epitath drear:A fool lies here who tried to Hustle the East.
Rudyard Kipling
The Naulahka
They want the money for health care.
Remember when Obama was calling for surrender in Iraq??
Then Zogby comes out with a new poll that his favorability has lurched lower to 42%. This from a Democrat Pollster.
Exactly.
Yep
For the record, I’m strongly in support of our military. That is why we should never tie their hands behind their backs and then ask them to fight to protect our freedom.
Obama will announce troop withdrawals going into the 2010 election cycle. He will blame the Bush administration for making such serious errors in Afghanistan that cannot be overcome with military force on the ground and that two party negotiations with the Taliban will commence. This tact will be taken to appeal to the leftist base to shore up support for congressional incumbents and help take away attention from the abysmal economy and failure to get bi-partisan public option healthcare legislation enacted. In the meantime, Shamnesty II will be front and center to (once again)anchor the hispanic vote.
The Left argues that "The War On Terror" is an unreasonable term because you can't have a war simply against a tactic. You need a noun not a verb as the subject. But if you say, OK, "War on Terrorists" then they throw out "One man's terrorist is another's Freedom Fighter." If you say "War Against Islamic Extremism" the that is jingoistic. If you say, "War Against Al Qaeda" then it's somewhat OK.
So as far as I can see the term "War Against Al Qaeda & Their Like-Minded Buddies" should presumably be OK but they'll find a way to object.
But Oceania has always been at war with Eastasia.
