I almost forgot about this horror story...thanks for posting.
Didn't this happen on Bush 1's watch? Why were these agents never brought up on charges and yet the current admin is going after CIA agents trying to do their job?

At the cabin, Vicki Weaver was waiting at the door, holding her infant daughter, Elisheba. The sniper fired again. His bullet hit Vicki Weaver. She was dead before the baby hit the floor, miraculously unhurt. Harris was hit by bullet fragments and bone from Vicki's skull. He was bleeding badly. Randy Weaver, daughters Sara and 10-year-old Rachel all saw the violent death. An example of our Federal Government in the 1990's

Lon Huriachi should be hanging from a bridge somewhere.
Everyone should read the book
The Federal Siege at Ruby Ridge
written by Randy Weaver.
Then tell me how you feel about the alphabet govt. agencies and puke like Lon Huriachi

This is the principle reason so many Americans are purchasing arms. We no longer live in the free nation in which we all grew up. The government—increasingly comprised of thugs, communists and would-be dictators—has become a dangerous, shameless enemy of liberty, the Constitution and the values for which the Founders fought 200 years ago.

In a two day, multi-posting argument a few weeks ago, DainBramage called me a “goober” for suggesting that the government did anything wrong in the Randy Weaver incident.
DainBramage, look, more goobers!

Here is a documentary video with interviews from both Randy and Sara Weaver that was made a few years ago.
Ruby Ridge Documentary
It runs a little short of an hour but its very interesting and gives a first hand account of the story while they visit the Weaver's mountain property and walk through what happened up there.
The link was passed on to me a few years ago by a fellow FReeper, so thanks to whoever that was.

The version of the story I heard held that the shotguns' barrel length was, in fact, over 18 inches and legal. Failing to entrap Weaver on that, the ATF resorted to a lesser-known restriction on
total length, under which the shotguns did fall.
Unmentioned in all this is that the Feds were trying to turn Weaver into an agent who would infiltrate the Aryan Nations, one of the white supremacist organizations that the media were claiming pervaded northern Idaho. Weaver was not, actually one of them - he differentiated between separatism and supremacy, a distinction which may not mean much to the SPLC but meant a great deal to the Aryan Nations.
And so an attempt at legal blackmail turned into a case of legalized murder on the part of the federal government. Weaver was, in the end, awarded a multi-million dollar settlement, cold comfort for a dead wife and son and time spent in prison.

That event cost GHWB the 1992 election, even moreso than the "Read my lips, no new taxes" phrase.

Thanks for posting this. Seventeen years later, I am still angry about this, and believe that the FedGov would repeat Ruby Ridge a thousand times if they thought they could get away with it. Under Obama, unfortunately, they may try again.
Rest in Peace, Sammy and Vicki. The LORD will judge rightly.

The government’s excuse for all the Ruby Ridge slaughter was two (alleged) 1/4 inch wide, .729 inch I.D. steel rings...
