S.I. baseball-bat wielding neighbor rescues girl from abductor in woods
A baseball bat-wielding Staten Island homeowner was hailed as a hero after he chased away a man who dragged a 15-year-old girl into the woods, police and witnesses said.
Patrick Klatt, 51, was inside his Great Kills home Thursday night when he heard the young girl's screams from a wooded area across the street.
"He kept telling her to be quiet," Klatt said about the sicko. "[But] she yelled just loud enough for me to hear."
Klatt grabbed a baseball bat and ran out his door.
As he crossed the street, the man saw Klatt approaching and fled.
"I ran in the woods as he was running out," Klatt told the Daily News yesterday.
Ready to pursue the attacker, Klatt saw the young girl instead.
He stopped to help.
"I saw her halfway in and grabbed her by the hand," he said. "She was shaking, crying."
The teen told Klatt her attacker had grabbed her by the throat. She was hurt and her voice was raspy.
Klatt grabbed her hand and helped her to her feet.
"As long as you're with me, nobody's going to hurt you," Klatt assured the distraught teen as he led her out of the woods.

It ought to be fair to paint ball such a scum.
Yeah, with FROZEN paint balls!!! And RIGHT in the BALLS!
Praise be to our Lord! May He bless Mr. Klatt and the young girl and their famiies aa they go through all the publicity, legalities and all that concerns the case.
Not in Texas.
Wise up...he meant get some of the perp...maybe you should examine your own thoughts if they took you to a dark place.
AMEN, skr!
[The attacker was described as a heavyset Hispanic male in his mid-20s, 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches in height, 200-215 pounds,...]
Possibly an illegal? Many illegals have come to America to avoid the legal system they have violated in their native country. Not all, but many indeed.
Maybe the poster should have worded his post differently.
I should clarify that. You can shoot them in the back at night if you have reason to believe they have committed certain crimes, or to prevent their imminent commission of certain crimes.
It’s a shame he didn’t sneak up on the piece of crap and give him a home run swing to the head!
I got a guy living up the street that is a registered sex offender. He moved here from Idaho (I believe) and didn’t register at first. Some locals at the pool called the cops one day because the guy was acting weird and watching the kids. They found out who he was and got him registered. Why he wasn’t locked up I can’t say. He lives with his parents. They are in their seventies. I’m guessing this guy is in his early fifties.
He walks around with his cell phone. I’ve noticed him aiming it at the kids that are outside playing. I’m sure he’s taking pictures of them. Anyone know if this is legal?
Is a registered offender allowed to take pictures of kids?
I know this probably sounds really silly, but hey, would you want this creep taking pics of your kids?
OK, I’ll buy that and I’m happy to have a better explaination.
I try really hard to give people the benefit of the doubt and it’s good to know that doing so is worth my while on occasion....just wish it was that way more often.
Could very well be, kindred. There are many thousands of illegals here in NY. You should see how many are hanging outside Home Depots & Lowes @ 7am looking for day work. And the cops do NOTHING! Low-life looking scumb*gs, too.
“Not in Texas.”
You’re right. Yankees just don’t “get it”.
Amen!
Thank You Lord for preserving that young girl.
May You show favor to Mr. Klatt for his obedience.
See that you do not look down on one of these
little ones. For I tell you that their angels
in heaven always see the face of my Father in
heaven.” (Matthew 18:10)

Yes, but he has rights..../sarc
If Klatt had a gun and put a couple of slugs into the perp he would be facing criminal charges for sure.
It is the fault of the reader where his thoughts take him, not the writer. The connections are made in the mind of the reader. I would bet that the alternative implication never entered the mind of AppyPappy
I would confront the SOB & warn him not to take anymore pictures of the kids. If he continues, then make a citizens arrest if it’s legal. Guy needs to be in jail.
Yea. I plan on talking to the local cops on Monday about it. Kinda hard to prove he’s taking pics of the kids, without confiscating his phone. There has to be some provision for checking on him periodically, like looking at his computer, his phone records, etc., etc. I’ll see what I can find out.
If the cellphone pix were not actually a crime you could end up being sued for beaucoup.
I'd agree with you if only one person read it incorrectly. But if more than one reader comes away with a similar reaction, then the fault lies with the writer...and clearly more than one person made the same connection.
