It’s a shame he didn’t sneak up on the piece of crap and give him a home run swing to the head!

I got a guy living up the street that is a registered sex offender. He moved here from Idaho (I believe) and didn’t register at first. Some locals at the pool called the cops one day because the guy was acting weird and watching the kids. They found out who he was and got him registered. Why he wasn’t locked up I can’t say. He lives with his parents. They are in their seventies. I’m guessing this guy is in his early fifties.
He walks around with his cell phone. I’ve noticed him aiming it at the kids that are outside playing. I’m sure he’s taking pictures of them. Anyone know if this is legal?
Is a registered offender allowed to take pictures of kids?
I know this probably sounds really silly, but hey, would you want this creep taking pics of your kids?

I would confront the SOB & warn him not to take anymore pictures of the kids. If he continues, then make a citizens arrest if it’s legal. Guy needs to be in jail.

Even the Registry is becoming a joke - with 30-40 million illegals who can’t even be arrested if they BREAK the law, how many of them do we suppose are up to no good?

You really should get in touch with his parole officer. The PD can help you with that.

The PO will schedule an unannounced visit and grab his cell phone. IF he has photos of neighborhood kids, that could be considered a parole violation and he'll back in jail.

You should enjoy anonymity.

Pay special attention on Halloween. They are forbidden from answering their door...These perverts offend every single day of their lives...in one way or another. They can't be cured.

If parents don’t want people taking pictures of their kids, they shouldn’t be in public. The first amendment still applies, even to pedophiles.

If the registered sex offender is getting close enough to kids to take pics of them with his phone, he may be violating terms of his parole. Worth a call to your local police to find out!

In any case, I always think it’s worth a call to the cops just to scare miscreants, even if they can’t be locked up. Case in point: I was once nearly mugged (or worse) in Chicago while getting off the L, but luckily I got away from the guy who was stalking me. The second I got home, I called the police, and they were able to pick up the guy (who foolishly was still hanging around the L station). The cops told me later he had a laundry list of sexual assaults, none of which had kept him in jail for any time at all. At any rate, the cops INSISTED on driving him home (clear on the other side of town) and let him know that they did NOT want to see him at my L station again. He never returned.

So ... the cops couldn’t do anything since he technically hadn’t done anything, but they apparently did a good job of scaring him. Maybe your local cops could do a good job of scaring your icky neighbor?

I think it might depend on the state, but I believe that taking pictures of children is usually against the terms of a pedophile’s release.

Here is one example of a registered pedophile facing charges after being caught taking pics of kids in public...

http://www.journaltimes.com/news/local/article_0853ea4c-fce7-5098-bfce-c06418bab095.html

DEFINITELY call the local police or probation dept and find the officer in charge of this offender. No matter what the laws are in your state, the parole officer will absolutely want to know that he has been doing this...
