Former schoolteacher Evelyn Miller doesn't plan to retire from the anti-illegal immigration movement any time soon.
She's too busy organizing petitions, blasting e-mails, faxes and letters, and threatening politicians who are up for re-election.
The 76-year-old member of the California Coalition for Immigration Reform says she is driven by her belief that those in the country illegally are taking jobs and taxpayer services from Americans.
"We're soldiers in the foxhole," Miller said from her dining room in Irvine, which doubles as a home office

This one’s gonna make the health care row look like thumbwrestling.
This patriot has more guts (and energy) than most. Can you imagine what we could accomplish if just a fraction of conservatives in this country became activists? After all, we are the majority at 40%, followed by moderates and finally liberals.
Why is it that the people in the minority in this country are dictating what the rest of us do, especially when it is NOT in our best interest?

People need to learn to use leverage. That is, get politicians to do the heavy lifting. If a politician knows that supporting illegal activity in some way will have an impact on their career, they’ll be less like to support illegal activity. Simply saying you or your group won’t vote for them won’t work unless there are a lot of members in your group. If there are more members on the other side, they’ll do what the other side wants instead.
If anyone wants to do something that would be very effective, contact those who go to townhalls and suggest that they pool their resources and find someone like a trial lawyer who can ask questions like these:

Ranting isn’t effective, you need to show up the politician. And, it has to be done by someone who’s familiar with “cross-examining” people.
