MIAMI (Reuters) Police in a Florida city used the promise of economic stimulus checks to lure 76 people to their arrest on a variety of outstanding warrants.

It would be interesting to see the photos on this one.
How many are wearing mullets?
They probably had camera crews for Cops.
“The latest twist on a very old (but still very effective) police sting.”

Christine Russell, whose husband Jeffery Carol was among those arrested said it was not a fair way to detain him for his outstanding traffic warrants. "This is just outright entrapment," she said. "I'm angry at the tactics."
Fort Lauderdale Police Sgt. Frank Sousa explained how the plan worked: "You come here thinking you are receiving a check, you end up going to jail."
Carol was one of many who received a letter in the mail to come to the War Memorial Auditorium to receive a stimulus check, but when he got there on Wednesday, he got caught up in a police sting operation. As part of the operation, police took down people wanted for everything from attempted murder to battery.
"The way that it was done, using our president and the stimulus package and a government letter, just it didn't sit right. It seemed very long. I've never heard of such a thing," Russell complained.
Fort Lauderdale Police defended their tactics. "I can understand where the general public may look at that and say this," Sousa said regarding Russell's comments, "but these are individuals who could make you a victim. These are individuals who could harm our children, and when you look at the creativeness that was put into this operation, in my opinion, not only was it a tremendous idea, but it was a brilliant idea. No one was hurt, and at the end of the day, when you have a success rate that's over 75 percent, I don't know how the general public can argue."
Police added that they also confiscated one firearm and various narcotics from some of those they arrested.
I’d hazard to guess not as few as some other styles.
Awesome.
Haven't they figured out this old ploy yet?
Genuine rocket scientists rarely, if ever, have warrants for their arrest.
I always felt that random drug-testing of ALL recipients of ANY forms of “Government Assistance”, along with proof of Citizenship, would really save the taxpayers tons of their money with these dependent-classes.....
Money for nothing, and the chicks for free.
Obama voters ping!
Hey, the whole election of Democrats is "entrapment" then as well.
These idiots think they are just getting a "check", when in reality, the Govt is stealing other people's money (and money we don't have) to give it to them, while the rest of us descend into slavery and tyranny.
I just thought of a great idea.
Why don't the police put the word out that there is an organization that wants to give drivers licenses to Illegal Aliens, plus they will register them to vote too.
Then, when they show up, you arrest and deport them.
You are so mean, no wonder people dislike conservatives. Don’t you know they are just pre-Americans. /s
