CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are unraveling a home invasion and burglary that began at an elderly couple's home and ended with a 15-year-old suspect shot to death on a nearby street.

The elderly gentleman went out after the scum who invaded their home, bound them with duct tape, and stole from them. Good for him!

His son who lives nearby said he checked on his wife, grabbed his gun, and got in his car to go after the scum!!! GOD BLESS HIM!!!

Now we will see what happens. Chances are he could be prosecuted....but his son said the man thought the thug had a gun turning it towards him so he fired. And he was a good shot!

I've never understood the "reasonable man" standard as it applies to justifiable homicide.

The law seems to presume that you are a skilled gunfighter with ice water in your veins, and that you can turn on and turn off your lethal force response accordingly.

Me? If somebody broke into my home and physically threatened my wife or my children, even if the perps fled and the family was unharmed physically, I could not rest until the perps were dead - not because of revenge, but because I couldn't be sure they wouldn't come back for a second shot.

Agreed. Usually crime victims are too injured or shaken to be able to go after the perps. Not this guy! Thank GOD!

If he ends up being charged for anything, there should be outrage out the kazoo.

I'm a little surprised here... I thought the media doesn't identify minor suspects?
