RICHMOND, Va. A dog belonging to the CEO of the Richmond, Va., Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals died after accidentally being left alone for four hours in her hot car.
Robin Starr's husband Ed told the Richmond Times-Dispatch that he put the 16-year-old mutt named Louie, who was deaf and blind, into his wife's vehicle on Aug. 19 as she was getting ready for work. Starr often took the dog to the office with her.
But on that day, she arrived at work without realizing Louie was in the car. Several hours later, at about noon, she saw the dog when she went out for lunch.

Oh come on! The husband put the dog in the lady’s car, she didn’t know he was in there, and you think she ought to be fired for that? Have you ever heard of accidents or mistakes? I detest animal abuse but this was simply human error and I’m sure no one feels worse than she.
Well at least the dog was old. The death panel wouldn’t have given him much more time anyway.
The story just sounds too convienent.
The SPCA is responsible for criminalizing such mistakes.
Your common sense violates everything this woman works for.
But of course, she should be let off, with compassion and understanding.
It's the same reason Teddy got the best medical care in the world, doncha know.
WHat I thought too.
Good luck trying that defense with the SPCA if you ever let a dog fry in your car. The SPCA would want to see your head cleaved off your neck.
Prosecute!
91 degrees isn’t all that hot. The dog probably died from complications of dehydration and not from the heat.
LOL!
murderer...... perhaps just dog slaughter
I have to feel sorry for her. Not only is she devastated by the lose of her dog, she must be embarrassed to a point of complete humiliation. A respectable person would resign.
91 degrees outside. It was probably much hotter inside the car, hot enough to cause severe injury.
91 degrees outside is like 120 inside.
Have you accounted for the greenhouse effect within the car?
You’re far more trusting than I am.
I think the story is a bunch of bull.
She must have been horribly devastated since she obviously was a champion of pet care. I feel very sorry for her and for the poor doggie. What a way to go, it’s terrible.
His response to criticism was rumored to be, “What the hell? It’s just a damn dog! Who cares?” (not really)
I mean “she.”
