Cheney Statement on CIA Documents/Investigation
weeklystandard.com ^ | August 24, 2009 | Stephen F. Hayes

Posted on 08/24/2009 7:43:09 PM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

Former Vice President Dick Cheney released a statement Monday night about the CIA documents and the coming Justice Department investigation.

The documents released Monday clearly demonstrate that the individuals subjected to Enhanced Interrogation Techniques provided the bulk of intelligence we gained about al Qaeda. This intelligence saved lives and prevented terrorist attacks. These detainees also, according to the documents, played a role in nearly every capture of al Qaeda members and associates since 2002. The activities of the CIA in carrying out the policies of the Bush Administration were directly responsible for defeating all efforts by al Qaeda to launch further mass casualty attacks against the United States. The people involved deserve our gratitude. They do not deserve to be the targets of political investigations or prosecutions. President Obama’s decision to allow the Justice Department to investigate and possibly prosecute CIA personnel, and his decision to remove authority for interrogation from the CIA to the White House, serves as a reminder, if any were needed, of why so many Americans have doubts about this Administration’s ability to be responsible for our nation’s security.

Elsewhere on these boards last night, there was a post that a judge in the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York (NYC) granted Bloomberg’s (publishing enterprise) FOIA request of the Federal Reserve. They are now ordered to provide information about where/how/when of TARP distributions.

That is not an insignificant decision, and is likely to be challenged, but a judge somewhere (NY of all places) decided the public has a right to know where our money is going. And, with the union thug as Chmn of the NY Fed, should be all the more interesting.

This is one of the most masterfully crafted statements I’ve ever seen from a politician. It restates the facts, it builds a case, and then it relentlessly chomps a gaping hole into the Obama Administration.

Just awesome.

My beloved Bigtime. How I adore him.

And now I have a new tagline.

We miss you, Dick. I'm sure you'd rather be at home hunting and fishing, but America needs you and you're answering her call. God bless you and your wonderful family.

I said it before and I'll say it again: With Obama's complex psychodynamics, his NPD, childhood, et al, is he Inviting an Attack?

I think someone (or many someone's) just received a beat-down (I'd use a different phrase, but I'd just be accused of being racist).

I’ve been saying exactly this since well before last November. These people want to tear this country down and make us weak so that our enemies can defeat us without having fired a shot.

With Obama's complex psychodynamics, his NPD, childhood history, et al, + his appeasement/apology stance, is he Inviting an Attack?

I just heard that a president of an AFL-CIO union has been nominated to be head of the New York Federal Reserve Bank.

Payoff for the unions' help in getting That One elected, pure and simple.

He is setting a precedent for Republicans to do it to his administration once we flush the commies out of power. This show trial charade is not going to reflect well on the Democrats. In the past when they did this, they took it in the shorts.

Scary....

We must now assume that....

1. We have in custody a terror suspect right now, that knows about the next attack on America but Obama and his cronies will not do everything possible to gather that information.

What possibly can he say to assuage the fears of Americans and to ease the pain for the familys of the victims of the next terror attack on America?

The true tradgedy is that When Islamic terrorists attack our country they kill indiscriminately instead of only targeting their liberal enablers.
