The Wall Street Journal just published a shocking editorial written by a respected University President, confirming the Obama Administration is now using VA hospitals to order doctors to pressure all military veterans to sign "pull the plug" do-not-resuscitate orders, hastening their premature deaths through mandatory "end of life" counseling.
President Jim Towey of Saint Vincent's College, founder of the non-profit "Aging With Dignity" and former White House Director of faith based initiatives, wrote a blistering expose entitled "The Death Book For Veterans," revealing President Obama's new Veterans Administration (VA) directive, presumably signed by VA Secretary, General (ret.) Eric Shinseki, which mandates all veterans' primary care physicians must graphically discuss "end of life planning" with all VA patients (not merely those nearing death), and must refer them to "Your Life, Your Choices," a book that openly encourages Euthanasia and was written with guidance from the group formerly known as the Hemlock Society. That same pro-suicide group now boasts on their web-site of directly leading the charge to ensure "end of life counseling" is mandated in the Obamacare bill, HR 3200.
On page 21 of the Shinseki-mandated Veteran's Euthanasia book, all military veterans are encouraged to complete a checklist of various scenarios, to decide whether their own life would be "not worth living." For example, the booklet asks veterans 7 questions pressuring veterans to sign a "living will" that authorizes doctors to terminate your life, if you are:
1) Living in a nursing home?
2) Being in a wheelchair?
3) Not able to "shake the blues?"
4) Ever heard anyone say, "If I'm a vegetable, pull the plug?"
5) No longer able to contribute to your family's well-being?
6) Are you a severe financial burden to your family?
7) Do you cause severe emotional burden for your family?

It was fun to make albeit staring at Obama for so long to edit, was a chore.
I've downloaded and read this entire document. The Human Events article (and most of the other coverage about this booklet) completely misrepresent the contents. This DOES NOT even come close to advocating any of the crap folks are saying. It contains information and exercises used to help people to plan for circumstances when they may not be able to communicate themselves. End of story. I'm going to print out copies for my parents and my wife and self to fill out. If more people did so we could avoid a great deal of soul searching an heartbreak later on. Anybody remember Terri Shiavo?
Vets and active duty need to file a class action lawsuit with a good attorney demanding the BC. Hussein wants to kill vets off.
Read the document before you cinch up the tin foil.
And when not enough veterans decide to die the liberals will find new reasons to “help” them decide.
Shinseki first.
“They put her in there to die.”
Who is they?
None of this crap is the business of the federal government.
The slant of that entire booklet is to pressure the elderly Veteran to go for having the plug pulled on him...And to write a living will that reflects this. You are blind if you cannot see it. Maybe that's why the booklet was pulled when GW was president and Obama reinstated it
My father was an elderly WW2 veteran and he made out a living will which is what this booklet is a guide for. He never saw that death booklet. I was in his presence when he made out his living will and it was completed very quickly with zero pressure. Very few words were spoken. As it was he was pretty much in the "pull the plug" school but zero and I mean ZERO pressure was exerted on him.
Hospital personnel. She was taken there because of heart failure and stuck on a floor with no monitoring and almost no meals. My brother said that it was though they (medical “professional”) was just waiting for her to die.
Have your mom / mom’s doc look into a heart assistance device (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ventricular_assist_device). They may be able to extend her life with one.
How long ago was that?
None of this crap is the business of the federal government. ...............
Exactly! If you want a living will then make one out, it’s a good idea. But without US Federal Gov pressure. And that death booklet is designed to pressure and direct towards pulling the plug as soon as possible
Over my dead body.
My father made out his living will 3 years ago in the presence of a lawyer and passed onward a year later. But like I said no pressure was exerted one way or the other.
This US Gov booklet is slanted
Yes, it is. I know that people opt to make this decision, but it needs to be completely of their own freewill; it sounds like that’s how your father made the decision. That’s the right way...
Living wills are not just for those who want to have the plug pulled if they are in a bad way. You should also make your wishes known if you want to live no matter what....or something in between
Everyone with a family should make a living will. I did it about 10 years ago.
