Shortly after the Group of 20 summit concluded in London in April, Nicolas Sarkozy blurted out to a small group of advisers a question that weighed on him as he watched President Obama glad-hand his way through the gathering: "Est-il faible?" (Is he weak?) Sarkozy did not answer his own blunt query...

you left this little tidbit out of your excerpt:

“His fiercest Republican critics will of course hurl charges of weakness to tear him down and gain partisan advantage. Voters will see through that.”

Wash Post columnist begins to suspect emperor has no cloths?

From the article: "It is an odd question to ask about a man who tenaciously fought his way to the presidency against enormous odds, then dazzled the country and much of the world in his first six months in office."

Washington Post columnist is clueless about these past 8 months. All one has to do is look at the Rasmussen popularity chart since January 20th to see the continual decline in popularity.

...Obama’s in real trouble when the French ask if he’s weak....they’re a nation of lovers and crybabies.

DownfallIt is just a question of how long his amen chorus will stick with him and how much more the country must suffer before the inevitable occurs.

It is an odd question to ask about a man who tenaciously fought his way to the presidency against enormous odds, then dazzled the country and much of the world in his first six months in office.

But it is one inevitably raised by Obama's conciliatory manner, his appeals to sweet reason and high morality, and his soaring rhetorical promises when he has to adjust means, goals or both.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Obama is just too conciliatory, moral and reasonable.

I don't think "weak" is the right word.

If I were charitable, I would say that Obama is "clueless" and simply has no idea what he's doing. He throws out ideas, he takes positions, he changes positions, whatever seems like a swell idea, he goes for, until such time as he decides not to anymore. Total empty suit.

But mostly I'm not so charitable. I don't think anyone can be quite that clueless. I think it is far more accurate to say that Obama is a domestic enemy and I think he is waging war against the US. He's changing the world by ruining us. That's a type of power and I think he revels in it.

Ultimately this is a fluff piece urging Obama to push his agenda harder.

f you want to see this president succeed, as I do, you can construct an alternative narrative in which he is throwing dust in the eyes of opponents and resolutely moving toward goals that are worthy, if not as exalted as those originally proclaimed.

But it hasn't felt that way in this uneven August. In Washington the old saw about perception being reality is all too true. And all too final, once an impression of unsteadiness has been etched onto public opinion.

"Worthy goals?"

Only to a socialist.

I don’t perceive Sarkozy as weak, or being crybaby. He is the first real man they have elected in decades. I do think, however, he probably deserves the “lover” identification.

He's clueless about quite a bit.

For example:

But it is one inevitably raised by Obama's conciliatory manner

Is he talking about the same Obama I'm thinking of?

Hey, I cut this down to 300 words. Has the rule changed on Washington Post postings?

Bingo. The election of Obama was a terrorist attack on this country that is ongoing. 9/11 was a masterpiece of planning and extremely unlikely to be as successful as it was, bambi’s election was also a masterpiece of planning, marketing, bullying, and fraud, and also successful so far in helping to destroy what is left of the U.S. Lets hope Patriots can beat this attack back, and put the terrorists on the run.

God help us.

From French/English dictionary;
“1 faible Adjective (a) weak support, person, currency; weak, faint, dim light, faint, feeble voice

(b) slow mind, weak, poor expression, style, weak, feeble (pej), lame (pej) argument; ~ d’esprit feeble-minded
(c) (School) poor work, weak student; il est ~ en français he’s poor at French, he’s weak at French”

I definitely like (b) the best! And that just may have been what Sarko meant!

“His fiercest Republican critics will of course hurl charges of weakness to tear him down and gain partisan advantage. Voters will see through that.”

It's ok that the poster left that part out because Sarkozy isn't a Republican. The second statement is a non sequitur.

Not ‘weak,’ so much as cluelessly floundering. Obama is making it up as he goes along ... learning the hard way that “saying” is easy, “doing” is not.

Careful, there ... the French are a very canny, if highly cynical, bunch. They're a lot of things, but they're not stupid.

Is he “weak”? Only if you are measuring by a set of standards that are no longer fashionable.

In terms of achieving the actual goal of being a “leader” like Fidel, Hugo, Ama-dumb-dinner-jacket, and all his other lil buddies, the Big Zero is indeed a strong and potentially lethal leader for the socialist/fascist government that is his vision (as well as the vision of Pelousy, Reid, et al) for our country.

His goal is to be the ‘leader’ of all these other ‘leaders’ by bringing the really big fish, the USA, to its knees. He will truly go down in history when he achieves his dream to do this.

The mistake that we all are making is judging him by our standards when, indeed, his are so different we don’t even grasp what they really are, which is exactly what he wante us to do at this early stage of the transformation of our country.

I have friends, military veterans, who are Christians, love this country, love freedom and capitalism, are opposed to illegal immigration, support a strong military, and still voted for Obama. The Obama marketers sold a refrigerator to Eskimo’s.
