Matt Dwyer Reporting
A Milford man is accused of impersonating his twin to sexually assault a woman.
Jared Rohrig is charged with first degree sexual assault and criminal impersonation. He is a police officer in Orange.
Milford Police say while the 25-year-old man was pretending to be his twin brother, he engaged in a sexual encounter with a woman at his house on Flax Mill Lane in Milford July 19.
The woman said when she realized the man she was with was NOT who she thought he was, she tried to leave, but he restrained her and sexually assaulted her.
Police say the woman went to the emergency room the day after the attack, but asked to be anonymous.
She went to police and filed a complaint July 22. Police are withholding her name.
Rohrig is a police officer in the town of Orange.
Orange Police say he is on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
Hey Chet - did he have a pit bull?
How did she find out it wasn’t him? How do we know it wasn’t the other one the whole time?
Let’s say there are two roommates, Joe and Bob, who look similar- same hair color, height and weight. Joe brings home a woman one night and has sex with her. After he’s done, he leaves the room and wakes up his roommate Bob and tells him he can now have his turn. Bob goes into the darkened room and the woman, thinking he’s Joe, has sex with him. Is this rape?
Consent fraudelently obtained is not consent.
...nor is consent fraudulently obtained.
State?
So is it rape?
Orange Ct..town next to me...
This begs the question whether she didn’t recognize his ummm member.
Depends upon how you want to define “rape”. But if it is defined as “having vaginal sex with a woman against her will”, yes.
Damn it, you beat me to it.
The blue line will be here in a nanosecond.
Yes. If Bob knows that the woman thinks he is Joe then he should be charged with non-forceable rape.
Ok. Sylvia Sodbuster goes to a bar and meets a guy. The guy says he is Joe Blow, lead drummer for the rock group, the Ratheads. Sylvia says, “Oh, I love the Ratheads. I love drummers and I love to have sex with rock stars”. They go back to her place and voluntarily have vaginal sex. A week later, Sylvia discovers the guy wasn’t really the drummer for the Ratheads, but is actually an accountant with the Milquetoast Accounting Agency. Is this rape?
Sylvia intentionally had sex with Joe Blow, mistaken as she was about his pedigree. Applying my previous definition, the answer would be: no.
...and you responded by repeating my statement.
Now a case for you.
Now let's say someone breaks into a house and has sex with the lady of the house. Since she has taken a Ambien and is not really awake she thinks that he is her husband.
In your opinion, Rape?
