Palin Correct on U.S.-Brazilian Investment
JBS ^ | 21 August 2009 | Ann Shibler

The Export-Import Bank has proposed a $2 billion loan to a Brazilian oil company to fund oil drilling and development by a state-owned company, hurting American workers, oil companies, and the country’s energy independence. Sarah Palin sees this is as a rather self-defeating strategy.

After the idea went public, Palin quickly noted that President Obama wants to use American dollars to pay salaries and benefits to Brazilians — to state-owned oil company, Petrobras, at that — to the detriment of our own country.

In response, Ex-Im Bank spokesman Phil Cogan tried to mislead people, and disprove Palin’s assessment, by saying the government agency, started in 1934, has a function which is to lend money to foreign companies for the purchase of American goods and services. "It has to be produced by U.S. workers," Cogan said.

But even Senator Bernie Sanders knows that the Ex-Im bank is a massive U.S. corporate welfare giveaway program. According to Sanders, and this was a few years back, 80 percent of the subsidies distributed by the taxpayer funded Ex-Im Bank went to Fortune 500 companies including Enron, Halliburton, General Electric, AT&T, Lucent Technologies, General Motors, and more. GE received $2.5 billion in direct loans from Ex-Im with the result that GE reduced it’s workforce by 270,000 jobs. Then GE moved to Mexico.

Bernie Sanders is actually pretty good ona one or two things. As far as I know - he opposes amnesty because it hurts American workers.

Keep hammering him Sarah. Obama is incredibly corrupt.

We also use here Politico and HuffPo and the liberal MSM as sources when it fits us...

Even the Birchers can be right on something... this is such a case.

Not that I think everyone on the right is pro-worker, but I tend to think the left is elminating any sense of that, lately. Unless you pay to their causes.

Good article on the Brazil oil drilling:

Obama pays off supporter Soros with $2B in federal loans to drill in Brazil

The Wall Street Journal reported this week the Obama administration will invest $2 billion (or more) in drilling off the shores of Brazil, of all places. The same Dem-wits who will do anything to keep us from drilling off our own shores are now investing $2 billion in a Brazilian oil company?

The question is why? It’s a POLITICAL PAYOFF TO GEORGE SOROS is why. The liberal rabble-rouser has 5.8 million of the company’s U.S.-traded preferred shares. Once again mainstream media has turned a blind eye to newest of Obama scandals. The Lone Conservative says it all,

Even without the Soros connection this should cause outrage on both sides of the aisle. Obama’s letting down his green supporters on the left by investing in off-shore oil drilling, no matter where that drilling takes place. And the right should be outraged because he refuses to invest in drilling here at home – or allow private companies to do so.”

Obama is selling out America and this situation alone should be considered treason and at bare minimum, insider trading!

I look forward to these daily disruptions from SP. More than any other person, she keeps the WH on the defensive, and daily answering questions that no one else seems interested in asking....

Nice that no Republicans are following up on this important story, not even DeMint or Inhofe is saying nothing. More proof that the GOP is nothing more than the mini-me version of the Democrats.

Why did Soros sell Petrobras shares and then buy Petrobras ADRs (I assume he bought American Depository Receipts from the description). Or was this a coinkydink?

Congress is on vacation. Unfortunately that includes the pubies. They tend to not do much of anything unless someone is holding their feet to the fire.

Keep following the money and continue to document each and every instance. Every day there is something posted. You barely can draw breath in between the episodes of corruption coming out.

The silence from the leftist MSM is unfortunately expected now. The silence from the GOP is mind boggling. Is it because they all have some “skin” in the corruption? Is there some code of silence with these elected DC folks, regardless what side of the aisle they are on?

What they don’t tell you is that George Soros recently bought $811 million in stocks in Petrobras.
