Ev sent me a pic of his room and a note; thought you might enjoy it.:)
"It's a little spartan I guess. Having a T.V., DVD player and a fridge has become part of the baseline normal equipment on most of the bigger bases. Guys buy them & then sell them dirt cheap to the guys who replace them, who turn around and do the same, so that by the time it gets to the fifth or sixth guy money no longer changes hands & you basically hand off the furniture with the keys to the room. That's why I have a steelers sticker on my fridge. Still gotta replace that. Maybe you could send a Green Bay one. Anyway, there it is- You can't see it, but I also have a vintage (looking) Gadsden & Culpepper "Don't Tread On Me" snake flag over my window."

Good evening, Arrowhead...((HUGS))...still triple digits, bummer. Maybe one the hurricanes or tropical things will bring you some rain? Without damage, of course.

“no other dog is as good at EVERY category as the German Shepherd. Period. Intelligence, Speed, Strength, Tracking, Protection, Obedience, etc. No other dog has that combination of strengths.”
Amen. Add to that the reason GS came to being and the root of their name - they are SHEEP-HERDERS.
Also, they “INVENTED” virtually all those jobs dogs do now. Police, military (search before “guard”, etc), blind guides, etc.
You can’t beat these dogs, period. There is simply no better breed.
(BTW, if you want to be part of the GS ping, let me know. ;-) )

Thx for the ping! Anybody have an idea how we can send a doggie/handler care pkg to these guys? I did that once several yrs ago. I see they mention the name of the unit but I’m not sure how to get it there...

Oh, and in keeping with today’s theme, wanted to tell you that Ev’s unit “adopted” a dog; I believe she had belonged to the group they replaced, who had named her Lucy; coincidentally, the same name as Ev & Katie’s dog.:-)
